Aesop - In chopin’s defense, when I initially read Jules’ first post, I thought that it was one of the prank “■■■■■” posts. There was no background preparing the reader for how he know this information and could therefore be conveying valuable information. It came across solely inflammatory. Hence, my next post stating my uninformed position on Chopin’s chances at Harvard. Jules’ second post is when the reader starts getting the sense that he could actually have knowledge about Romanian applications to Harvard. Your post was very thorough and supports Jules statements.

the website clearly states that applicants from those countries which are not listed will be contacted only if the admissions committee ‘‘needs more information.’’ i would presume that those not contacted are obviously in the running too whereas those contacted are too in the running albeit the admissions committee is a bit unsure or wants to know more…so i feel the bottom line is that both the groups of people are in the running…good luck to all…

@Aesop: I got the same impression as smoda61 when I read Jules’ post. Had he given me strong arguments as you have I would not have called him mean. But his laughing at my situation was not at all nice - “Ergo, no interview, no Harvard :D”-( correct me if I’m wrong…). It was not a personal attack! I actually hope not getting into Harvard will be the worst thing that will happen to me over a span of 10 years. I am not naive and I never got my hopes soaring… I knew it was a “crapshoot” .I do have other options… as you probably must have too…
