September stays warm to hot, by October you start to feel a chill in the air. Family weekend is a good time to switch from shorts to pants as long as she has a couple pairs of pants for the cooler mornings and nights. I would also buy a Trinity sweater first thing on campus, most people buy one anyway and it will keep her warm in lieu of a jacket if the weather turns awful (as it seems to be doing quite often in Connecticut lately). As Cavs019 says, polo shirts, birkenstocks and L.L. Bean bags with her initials stamped on the front are standard fare for Trin conformers, but aside from the slight majority who dress like that most other people do thier own thing. Also, when recommending clothing it might help to know what region you are coming from, I know that people from Southern California and Florida tend to take a lot longer to adjust to the weather than someone from say, greater Baltimore/Washington.
