On the EA or RD, Even though someone applied EA, they may have been later than a RD in getting their income info back in so, I would think, that also plays a factor in when a person would receive a FA package. I know another student that was EA, was still waiting for W2’s when ours was sent in, RD. I guess we’ll find out.

We completed the FAFSA and CSS before the Feb 15 deadline and all info was sent and confirmed by IDOC well in advance of March 1, so hopefully we will see something soon.

smd640-Likewise. good luck, and I like you just had to make sure that they received everything… We are in Kansas, and on a rural route so we are at least a day behind the rest of the world. :~)

We are suburban Chicago and get our mail quite quickly, so I am keeping my fingers crossed to see something very soon. I will post when we get something so you know you should be watching for it!

i just spoke to fin aid office…said the packet should arrive next week.

I spoke to Financial Aid again too (we are revisiting on Thursday and was really hoping to have it by then). The person who answered the phone was very nice, was able to look my son’s name up and said that his packet was mailed yesterday. Hopefully we will receive it tomorrow.

I was actually visiting campus today and mine had already been sent out so i went to the fin aid office and got mine from them… add me to the list of middle-class kids that can’t afford an ND education lol… and they wouldn’t negotiate after i had a meeting with someone

Ugh…that’s depressing news. Was it far off from what you expected according to your EFC?

Really depressing news. So sorry to hear that. There could be alot of upset people here in the next few days.

Not gunna lie, I expect to be feeling the same way after I get my package. All we can do is hope for the best I guess.

it was about on with my EFC but to get it about on included 7,500 in loans and 2,600 in student employment… without loans and employment it was about 10,000 short of my EFC

Wow, I thought the maximum you could take out as a freshman was 5500 in loans. Thats a big amount. I hope things work out for you, and I’m nervous to look in the mailbox today.

I’m not too worried I’ve got a nice package from Caltech that’s loan free and has a much bigger scholarship
… things happen for a reason i guess

You’re right…things do happen for a reason and you have a good attitude. The weather at Caltech certainly beats South Bend, too!

Lilmikey
if you don’t mind me asking, roughly what was your efc? I feel like I am in the same position as you though I have not yet received my package. I will be okay with like 5,000 a year in loans u think…

I got mine today…$2600 in campus employment, $3500 in unsubsidized loans, and $1100 in form of a Provost’s Scholarship. I was a ND Scholar if that makes a difference. Our EFC is quite high, but this means my family would have to take out a lotttt of loans for me to go :(

I’d love to go to ND, but I might have to go to a school that offered me more in merit money…

Financial aid came today and was pretty much as expected. My son will have to make the decision if he wants to take on the loans, but I’m guessing he will.

Hey Smd640, we spoke yesterday… can you tell me the post mark date?

Mine came today as well. A lot better than I expected, but it’ll still probably be the most expensive of all my options. The EFC is manageable, but I will have $7,500 per year in loans and $2600 per year of work study. Outside scholarships will help, but it’s still more debt than I want to take on. It’s going to be a really hard decision for me…

MomKay…the post mark date was 3/29. Good luck on the rural route!
