@Thrill70 This is unusual, REA FAN’s thus far never came out in February but at the end of the first/beginning of the second week of March.
Presumably the pretty graphic @ https://financialaid.nd.edu/prospective-students/applying/ was meant to draw a distinction between REA and RD Financial Aid processes, in reality FAN’s for both will always arrive shortly after one another, i.e. for this admission cycle second and third week of March, respectively.
Again, it is very understandable that admitted students and families look forward to this important piece of information, both for merit and need-based financial aid, I don’t blame them.
@Meg2110 The ND Office of Financial Aid assumes that you will be offered a State Grant or Federal Pell Grant and included this preliminary estimate in your FAN, which therefore is subject to change in case you won’t fulfill Federal and/or State eligibility requirements.
no, it can’t be that. We don’t even qualify for subsidized loans so certainly not grants. They just made up a number and called it aid. We have no way of estimating if he’ll get any outside scholarships.
@Meg2110 Did your CSS include information which could lead the Office of Financial Aid to assume that third-party financial support might be forthcoming? I personally have never seen a ND FAN to include an outside scholarship estimate without at least some indication of the fact. In any any case, the best way forward in your case will be to give them a call on Monday and find out what the respective FA line item entails. All the best!
@VikingDad15 University scholarships, including the Provost’s Scholarship and Notre Dame Club Scholarship, are based on demonstrated need and therefore will be assessed on a yearly basis, in line with ND FA policies and guidelines. If family circumstances don’t change substantially your student will be University scholarship eligible for all 4 years @ Notre Dame.
@Meg2110 Folks at the Office of Financial Aid are very pleasant and supportive. Ask to speak with the person who prepared your student’s FAN, if she/he will be available. If of general interest, please post your findings here for folks with a similar question. Thanks and all success!
I still haven’t received mine, despite having everything submitted by the early deadline. Is anyone else still waiting? And does it come in mail or be email?
We are still waiting and met all the early deadlines as well.
I filled out an information request form online earlier this week asking when we could expect a decision. We were told notifications and requests for more information would be made through the student’s email and “We are reviewing and sending out Financial Aid Notifications daily as they are completed.”
