@howdy99 thanks and congratulations!

“It’s a backfill retention program, and it also serves a dual purpose of providing financial stability to Holy Cross College which was close to insolvency several years ago.”

Many schools these days increasingly have some kind of delayed or indirect admission program. Some schools offer enrollment but only starting in January, some schools have kids start off with a semester abroad, some schools have their sophomore class be significantly larger than the frosh class. Schools do this for a variety of reasons – limited frosh dorm space, keeping the campus 100% utilized while upper classmen do semesters abroad, replacing transfers out, etc. etc. etc.

Some schools allegedly do those (cough Northeastern cough cough) in order to manage/manipulate their enrollment stats for purposes of the USNWR rankings. Since the reported stats only apply to the kids who start as frosh in the fall.

Gateway is ND’s version of this. If your kid is 100% set on ND, it is a very good way to get in there with many advantages as compared to attending another school first year and transferring in from there.

I was deferred as well, but congratulations to everybody who was accepted - I wish I was in your position right now. Does anyone want me to create a thread for those who were deferred and/or waiting for RD?

Rejected! 1470 SAT; 4.3 weighted GPA; VP National Honor’s society; Captain varsity soccer team; 4-year’s golf; 5’s on 6 AP tests; Editor Student Newspaper; Boy’s state; other EC; 10 AP courses; 4 years Band; started own club; mission trips; good rec’s. ND wasn’t first choice, but was high on my list perhaps that lack of passion showed in my essays, but didn’t think so at the time. Not Catholic, but hope that wasn’t reason to not even get deferral. That said, very happy for those that got in - especially those whose dream school was ND. Go Northwestern Wildcats (here’s praying anyway) :). Enjoyed hanging out with you all the last 3 stressful days. Life goes on; and it is good. God bless!

@golf111 @cmac72466 I saw on the admitted students page the officially sanctioned ND class of 2022 FB page is coming in “mid-January”

Deferred from ND and BC in 2 days. really kills your self esteem ya know

I’m wondering what the deal with Mendoza is. When you indicate your interest, do you automatically receive your sophomore spot if you’re accepted or is it possible to be accepted with no guarantee of that? Is it harder to get in if you indicate that interest because there are a limited number of spots?

I was admitted yesterday with a guaranteed spot at Mendoza, just wondering.

@collegeplzaccept Hang in there. They were deferrals not rejections so you’ve still got time. Where else did you apply?

Accepted yesterday

Nova/Richmond/UVA/Vandy @lastone03

Does anyone know the average test scores for prospective students who get accepted for regular decision?

I believe it is slightly lower than Restrictive Early Action average test scores… but don’t quote me on that. @mgcollegetalk99

ok thanks ! I’m a legacy and have a 32 ACT and everything on my common app is strong …hoping for the best @jsmith93

Don’t worry, believe in yourself! Hopefully you get in and ill see you next fall!! @mgcollegetalk99

Lol thank you I really hope so!!! @jsmith93

Facebook group/Groupme anybody?

@TouchdownJesus The Facebook won’t be up until mid-January but someone should start a groupme! I would but I honestly have no idea how to work that app haha
