<p>I know this is a really old topic, but I’m applying for this upcoming summer and I was wondering if you guys could tell me about the program last year! Most important, what was the application like? What are they asking (essays, ECs, grades, is it similar to a college ap?) but also, was it fun?! What was it like living at ND? Do they offer scholarships?</p>
<p>It’s basically like a college application in regards to your resume and submission of test scores, but you also have to submit two really short essays. One is on a moment that defined you as a person and the other was why you chose whatever track you chose. Summer scholars was one of the best experiences of my life, and I met tons of great people. The dorms were pretty small (I stayed in Walsh) and had no air conditioning, so bring a fan. They keep you really busy so you don’t have any free time, but you’ll still have fun. I know they offered scholarships for international students and some people from Philadelphia. Also, those two weeks are exactly as if you would be a freshman in Notre Dame, I have friends that are freshmen at ND and they described me their first year and it was EXACTLY as the ND SS, definitely recommend it, you’ll fall in love with ND if you havnt yet. As in scholarships I received one because I live in Puerto Rico, but it was a merit based scholarship not a need base scholarship, so have that in mind! Even if there are no scholarships it is worth the money no doubt! You can also inbox me for further info if you want

<p>Thank you both so much! I’m really hoping I get in! I want to go to notre dame for college so I thought this program would be perfect. What was the experience in the classroom like? Were the classes hard?</p>
<p>Well I was in psychology and our class was very different from the other ones. We had to read a few articles but we were never really tested on anything. The classes were discussion based and those discussions were really philosophical and intense. My professor was actually head of the psychology department at Notre Dame. Not everyone had a professor that taught at Notre Dame, but they were all heads of their respective departments at good colleges. At the end we either had to give a speech on what we learned or turn in a journal. I know the life sciences and theology tracks had a lot of homework, but I’m not sure about the other tracks. Literature probably had to read a lot of stuff. Jose, weren’t you in prelaw? What was y’all’s work like?</p>
<p>Were you friends with anyone in the business track/know anything about that program? Also, if you’re now a senior in high school, did you apply to notre dame EA or will you be applying RD?</p>
<p>Ya know now that I think about it, I didn’t really hangout with that many people in the business track, but the ones I did talk to never talked about their work so I don’t know if they had a lot haha but I mean no one really talked about their work that much</p>
<p>Going back to what you said about submission of test scores, do they look at the PSAT? If so, what’s the score range? Last year I didn’t have the greatest scores so hopefully I either improved this year or it isn’t a big determining factor in the decision!</p>
<p>My PSAT scores and plan score were both mediocre but I had really good essays and ECs. Plus my religion teacher wrote one of my recs and he goes to ND vision like every year, so that helped</p>
<p>What’s a “plan” score? Sorry for all the questions! Have you or will you apply to notre dame this year?</p>
<p>Plan is like the PSAT for the ACT except you don’t get any scholarships from it haha and no I’m only a junior so I’m just looking at colleges right now, not applying</p>
<p>Ok so am I! Notre dame is definitely my number one though. Are you doing another summer program this year?</p>
<p>No because I’m touring colleges and then going on vacation with my family so I’m not going to have enough money for that hahahaha</p>
<p>I’ve been looking at the tracks more and I think psychology and prelaw look really interesting. Was the final journal a lot of work? I’m trying to get an idea of how much work is involved in the program because I’m taking a course online over the summer so I have an extra free class period during the school day and I don’t want to have way too much work on top of that class and ap assignments.</p>
<p>Well, you didn’t have to do the journal. It was more of a choice. You just had to present something that showed what you learned in class, and I chose to just speak in front of the class like everyone else did. Psychology probably had the least amount of physical work than the other tracks, but the discussions will leave you eternally thinking (in a good way). Your brain will be working more than it ever did before. Trust me haha.</p>
<p>axlintz, the campus is amazing haha although the girls’ dorms were less than stellar. The amazing counselors and people make up for it though! The whole program was amazing. However, I feel like I didn’t get to enjoy it as much as others because I had a torn ACL at the time, so I couldn’t participate in a lot of the activities outside of class. It was still amazing though!!!</p>
