Nov 17 Makeup SAT

awesome i hope so
hopefully theres a good curve. Im just freaking out that theyre curving it according to the NY area (becuase we’re the only ones that took the makeup today), where we get the highest scores in the country, so its gonna be harsher than usual.

oh yeah i got that z was 140.

I put cohesive. Idk but I thought it was something to do with how the girl just muddled designs but the uncle’s design was “cohesive”
EDIT: I also do not see how the uncles design was at all symbolic.

I really wonder which math section was experimental!!

I also got 140 degrees for that missing angle one.

And yeah, hopefully it won’t be too bad. Hopefully we did better than all of them ;)

the tear was symbolic of the mother

Ugh I put 120… Darn

How was the tear symbolic of the mother? I dont remember anything about the mother in the story.

I don’t think it was specifically symbolic of anything like “the mother”. But I DID put “symbolic”.

she was mentioned in the last paragraph

Chris can you explain why you put symbolic??

I thought it was symbolic because of the way the design of the Uncle’s carpet was described. It was said to have a teardrop pattern called “The Mother and Daughter”, and this was because there were teardrops INSIDE other teardrops. So I thought that was symbolism. shrug

Oh symbolic might well be right!!! But cohesive sounds right too (that’s what I put ) because one of the points of the storyWAS that she just drew randomly everything. But the symbolic thing totally makes sense though so I guess it’s a matter of which is more relevant ?

Instead of advocating what we put to make ourselves feel better let’s try to figure out the real answe. Anyone really sure about symbolic vs cohesive

Its symbolic. An easy arguement for it is: the girl’s drawing was bad beacuse she just put everything in and didn’t emphasize the artistry of designing a carpet, whereas the uncle’s was simple yet beautiful, symbolizing the fundamental art of carpet making and how a design doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful. Also, cohesive just doesn’t make sense in context. Cohesive means logically correct/understandable and in this context cohesive doesnt emphasize or connect with waht the passage is about at all. Its not about how the uncles carpet makes sense its about how the uncles carpet uses the subtle beauty of carpet making to create the design.

hey guys, what did you get for the one with celebrity/ widely popularized or something for hiphop sales and cachet?

okay can we please move on now to some other passage based reading questions?

**** I got four wrong ONLY on the damned effing Iran one

can someone just remind me the list of passages lmao, forgot EVEYRTHING. there was the carpet one, the one about jobs/employment and how much people really worked: one passage by critic, one passage by the author S something. Then there was the horror one. dont remember the questions tho

I put widely popularized for that one, @kenrick.
