Buck Rogers?

“So what you are saying is that Saddam was being a humanitarian when he used chemical weapons on the Kurds, killing thousands of them at a time. Kind of a warning shot as it were, to let them know that if he gets really mad he would use conventional weapons on them.”

Fundingfather, such a statement does not merit the time it takes to put a quote box up.

Let’s not be stupid. I’m not saying chemical weapons are nice. No weapon of war is. Yes, chemical weapons can kill a lot of people. So can an airplane (9-11 anyone?). So can a truck bomb (Oklahoma city anyone???)

So maybe you can drop the rhetoric and focus on issues for a change?

Newmassdad queries: “So maybe you can drop the rhetoric and focus on issues for a change?”

What do you consider to be the issues at hand?

zoosermom, if you wanted to you would have made the reference at the time, but when called on it still don’t

and I do have a sense of humor…and at least I don’t worship at the gop altar

citygirlsmom: “zoosermom, if you wanted to you would have made the reference at the time, but when called on it still don’t”

Actually, I made it very clear (twice) that I am crazed at work and won’t be able to link to that. I also PROMISED to do so, probably this evening or tomorrow. If that’s not good enough for you, then too bad.

“and I do have a sense of humor…and at least I don’t worship at the gop altar”

I must have missed any humor in your posts. You’re from San Francisco, right? I worked for a SF company for many years and never found them to have any semblance of humor with regard to anything political, a relentlessly boring, out of touch and self-important city. Please find one reference to myself “worshiping” at the GOP altar. Come on I dare you.

Zooserman, in post 91 you made it pretty clear that your idea of “humor” is a long list of different ways to say “People who disagree with me are stupid and unpatriotic.” I think that may be the basis of your disagreement with CGM about your respective opinions regarding the other’s sense of humor. Since CGM doesn’t sit around thinking up different ways to make belittling comments about liberals she’s going to have ahard time meeting your standards.

From Kluge: “Zooserman, in post 91 you made it pretty clear that your idea of “humor” is a long list of different ways to say “People who disagree with me are stupid and unpatriotic.” I think that may be the basis of your disagreement with CGM about your respective opinions regarding the other’s sense of humor.
What a load of garbage. I posted something to Rorosen as a counterpoint to something posted about republicans on another thread. I didn’t “make anything up.” Have you ever forwarded anything? And I stand by my statement that I haven’t seen any humor coming from CGM on any posts. And yes, I think some of those items were very, very funny (which is not to say all of them). As were some of the items about republicans. See? A sense of humor. Funny is funny. I guess that post hit very close to home for some of you. This is exactly what I mean about many liberals having no sense of humor about themselves.

I wasn’t necesarily referring to you, zoosemom, but since you felt the need to belittle ALL liberals and democrats, I thought I would return the favor

And nice how you can judge 750,000 people having met them all…good for you

As for the link, i gave the links…from sources that kind of know, unlike Santorum, etc

I thought the GOP ALtar was funny, but if you don’t get it, well…

Zoosermom writes: “I read the complaint and it’s pretty amusing.”

I agree wholeheartedly. Break out the popcorn as this is going to be great entertainment. Many on the left think that this is a major event that will finally expose the evil ones. I think that the end result will be that the MSM won’t be able to protect the Wilson/Plames any longer as everyone will be able to see them for the self-absorbed clowns that they are.

It’s striking to me how feelings of self-importance run rampant through so many people once they’re firmly ensconced inside the Beltway of Washington. Their arrogance and sense of entitlement never ceases to amaze. Now it will be on full display for all to see. Can’t wait for the show.

Citygirlsmom: “I wasn’t necesarily referring to you, zoosemom, but since you felt the need to belittle ALL liberals and democrats, I thought I would return the favor”

Sorry. I thought you were responding to me. Guess I was mistaken.

“And nice how you can judge 750,000 people having met them all…good for you”

Again, I’m sorry, but I do not like the city and have never had the opportunity to meet anyone I liked in it. Although I’m sure there are many wonderful people there. Scores of trips in a dozen years have totally turned me off to your city. That may be offfensive to you and I understand why, but it is based on long personal experience.

“As for the link, i gave the links…from sources that kind of know, unlike Santorum, etc”

Oh, so you get to decide what sources are valid. Gotcha.

“I thought the GOP ALtar was funny, but if you don’t get it, well…”

Actually, I don’t get it. It wouldn’t apply to me anyway because I’m not a party girl.

Geesh.

This is sure getting personal.

Maybe we should have some folks in time out? “everyone take a corner for 15 minutes and no talking…”

Can’t we get back to some substance here? For a while, this thread was pretty thought provoking. Now…

Citygirlsmom, here’s a link to what I was talking about. I really thought that portions of the actual document were available online, but I was either mistaken or just can’t find it. I do apologize for that.

OK, to lighten things up, check this out:
(Caution, if you are a liberal with no sense of humor, read no further)

I particularly love the chorus with the line: “We’ll get Libby for his fibby”

Funding Father, that’s a riot!!!

(quoted from the source zoosermom linked) Thus that report also indicates that these are very old weapons, not a sign that Saddam had revived his WMD program. Those weapons were no threat to us, certainly not worth starting a war over.

Agree. Even if they had just been made 6 months earlier they would not have been a major threat to us. Since terrorists typically don’t walk around with howitzers, munitions designed for howitzers aren’t a major threat. The threat to us was never WMD in artillery shells - it was WMD that was to be packaged for delivery by terrorists.

The threat was Saddam’s experience with WMD creation/packaging in conjunction with the delivery system of al Qaeda. The part of the reports that said we did not find any WMD that no one reads or mentions is the part that say that Saddam had every intention to re-create his WMD program once the sanctions were lifted. And the sanctions were well on their way to being lifted unofficially with the activity of France and Russia. That and the fact that the UN would have no reason to continue the sanctions if no WMD were found, Saddam was soon to be let out of his “box” to pursue his goals. Those who think that we should have continued with the status quo (keeping saddam in his box) fail to realize that this was not one of the options on the table.

The great thing about starting a war based on what you just know someone was going to do in the future, even though they weren’t - and couldn’t be - doing it now, is that no one can ever prove you’re wrong. And if you said at the time that you were going to war for a reason that has been proven false… well, people have short memories. And if you make sure to push their fear buttons often enough and hard enough, you can make them forget about what it was that you said just a couple of years ago.

9/11!! 9/11!! Terrorists!!! Terrorists!!! Be afraid!!! Be very afraid!!!

There are those who have learned something from 9/11 and then those who refuse to learn. I think I prefer to be in the “learned something” camp and am thankful that so far we have a government that has as well.

you think they learned something…what would that be…

once again 9/11 and Sadam- not connected, so what was learned in that regard

we are not longer looking for Bin Laden- what did they learn there

we are in a civil war, no matter what label is put on it

we haven’t learned how do deal with the “prisonors”

we haven’t even considere how the money is spent

we haven’t admitted that we are never pulling out

Our president, i guess learned something, that there are and were different kinds of muslims in Iraq and they weren’t the best of friends, guess he learned that…phew

fundingfather,

“The threat was Saddam’s experience with WMD creation/packaging in conjunction with the delivery system of al Qaeda.
So there is quotes from Sadam that says this OR is this someones educated guess?

" And the sanctions were well on their way to being lifted unofficially with the activity of France and Russia. That and the fact that the UN would have no reason to continue the sanctions if no WMD were found, Saddam was soon to be let out of his “box” to pursue his goals.
Sorry don’t buy it. Where were we going? Was the UN going to tell us to leave the middleeast? Would we listen if told? C’mon now I may believe alot of things, but I know the US would never leave a region militarily UNTIL it was ready to. We’d tell France and Russia to oui oui up a rope. The US has always been selective in it’s compliance with the UN. When we agree we do, when we don’t, we do what we want. Do you reeaaaallly think we’d withdraw our positions? :)
