I thought the test was actually similar to Barron’s in terms of difficulty, but that’s just my opinion. If the test was harder than usual (which most people are saying), then the curve should be more lenient, right?

at this point, I know i omitted 7-9 questions and got 2 wrong so far. I’ll be perfectly happy with anything above a 650. (yes, I know, it doesn’t take a lot to satisfy me)

I’m a little disappointed with this thread now. We need some more discussion, more math problems, more worrying, more tension! That’s what make a thread a great thread! So, what was the answer with the long-distance and local phone calls? 2/9 or 4/9 and please explain your reasoning why in a clear, concise manner, if you will.

P[both long distance]: 1/31/3=1/9
P[both local]: 2/32/3=4/9
P[both long distance] + P[both local]+P[one local, one long distance]=1 (all the possibilities)
So
P[one local, one long distance]=1-(P[both long distance] + P[both local])=1-(4/9+1/9)=1-5/9=4/9

Just a general question to the people who are predicting bad scores and such: are you planning on retaking it? I guess this is more aimed at people who are seniors; I, as a senior, signed up for the Dec. one, but that is like the last one for most schools, so hopefully, if I don’t get sub-700, I won’t retake. I’m just trying to get an insight into other students. I mean, I probably should have taken this exam as a junior rather than senior…

I am a senior. If I do really, really bad on it (as in 500s or lower), I will retake it in January (last possible date for most schools-e.g. Harvard) along with any other subject tests that I want to retake. If I get 600s, I still might retake.
