November 2026 Voting - Non-Political

I also re-registered for Ballot Trax in California. I’ve been on it before but for some reason got dropped off. It tells you when your ballot was received, and when it gets counted.

I vote in person on election day mostly. The only other way to vote is with a mail ballot that you mail in or drop at a monitored ballot box, but you have to apply for a mail in ballot before now. (I am in PA)

I would love the opportunity to vote in person early.

Oh gee, I thought I owned the voting thread!:wink: :joy:

I voted early in person. Straight ticket this year.

I do not trust USPS to deliver the mail in a timely fashion so I want to implore everyone to vote in person or drop their ballot off at a ballot box

I have a package that was mailed on October 11 and I still don’t have it.

Yikes was there another voting thread?! I didn’t realize or remember. Mods, feel free to merge if you like.

I voted early because I don’t trust the mail and I’m worried about what might happen on Election Day. I had to wait maybe – I don’t know, three or four minutes??

I used to prefer voting on Election Day, the elementary schools would have all their projects on the wall for us to see and on the big elections there would be bake sales. Now I prefer to vote early in person. (Don’t trust the mail.) There was a surprisingly long line. The last day to register was past, but there seemed to be several people with issues which involve redoing ballots and/or showing ID.

Haha, I started one earlier. @ChoatieMom reminded me that I had a similar one in 2024

I don’t mind, I was making fun of myself

In the bay area. CA makes it so easy to vote. We always get the mail in ballot and drop it afterwards at the ballot dropbox in front of our local library. Just checked this morning to confirm our ballots were accepted.

Cant wait for the stupid prop 40/42 mailings to stop.

I voted early - at our country department of elections.

No issues. I didn’t take or wear a sticker.

I said hello to both candidates who were camped in front.

There are local reports of people selecting someone and it filling in another (always one way). The state says - not true - they are clicking in the wrong place.

We’ll never know but my voting experience is always fast and pleasant.

I don’t know about California and other states, but here in New Jersey, if you’ve received a mail-in ballot, you can only cast a provisional ballot if you show up in person (and it’ll only count after they’ve verified - perhaps weeks later - that you didn’t also mail in your vote).

Yes

For any folks who aren’t yet registered…please check YOUR state to see if they have Election Day Registration. We do in my state…but only for votes with people on the ballot which this election has.

If your state has Election Day registration, you can register to vote still.

In most towns, there is only one place for Election Day registration.

Just a small info piece…for anyone who needs it.

In our state, if you request an absentee ballot, you can mail it, drop it in a ballot box, scan it in the township clerk’s office prior to Election Day, or scan it at an early voting site (the second Saturday before Election Day to the Friday before Election Day). It’s a huge difference from just a few years ago, when you had to have a “valid reason” to vote with an absentee ballot - otherwise, all voting was on Election Day. We had a voter-initiated ballot proposal for the changes, which fortunately were in place already when Covid hit.

FriendlyWife likes for us to go to the polls together, claiming that otherwise she won’t get around to it, so I haven’t voted yet even though polls opened 10 days ago for early voting and one of the polling locations is 2 minutes from my house. Hopefully she can carve out some time after work tomorrow evening so we can get it done - I’m very antsy that I will get sick or something and not get to vote.

D22 (in CT for grad school) and D26 (in MN for college) both requested mail-in ballots, which isn’t so easy in TX anyway and has been made more complicated on purpose. D26’s first attempt to request a ballot by failed because she (reasonably) misinterpreted the vague instructions provided by the state. Fortunately she left enough buffer time that she was able to correct the issue and request again, and both of them have now returned their completed ballots to the appropriate address by mail. Will they be received and counted? Hopefully!

D29 is irritated - not only is she too young to vote now, she will still be too young for the 2028 presidential election.

Heck yes! I voted today. There were no candidates or signs anywhere around. It was busy, but no lines. In and out in less than ten minutes. I actually wonder if anyone around here will turn up on November the 3rd because early voting is very busy in my area. We are in one of the major congressional competitive districts so there is a ton of publicity.

We have always voted on the voting day. However, this time, we went to vote early yesterday. Admittedly, I felt anxious and wanted to make sure we got it done.

Our state has 9 ballot questions this time, 9!!!. We studied the info booklet and made our choice of each question. Since my memory is not that good, I wrote down my choices and brought the note to the poll with me to make sure which were yes votes and which were no votes. It’s done.

As long as I remember, I got sample ballots from the county before the election.

Of course, political organizations would send their own checklists of what they want you to vote for/against (or which campaigns paid for the ad space).

Even if you go there to drop off your completed ballot that you got in the mail?

I voted early in Nashville 2 weeks ago and it was busy. SIL voted early last Thursday and said it was slammed. D went today and was worried she wouldn’t get to vote before they closed for the day, but she made it through. She said her location told her they have been overwhelmed all 12 days of early voting. Love to hear about strong turnout!

In Washington state, I get one voter’s pamphlet for state-wide races and initiatives/referendums, and another separate one for my county, which includes my small city, for all primaries, general, and special elections.
They contain info on all the candidates, with bios, personal statements, and endorsements, and pros and cons for the ballot measures. They’re in a magazine format, and there isn’t a sample ballot list that I can put a check next to where I want to vote.
