Now why didn't MY husband think of this??!!?

doubleplay-
I am still laughing about the pigroast! Was there soemthing special about that event that made him think marriage? And yes, I suspect, too, that the guy was probably beign diplomatic. Still, ouch!

And yes, Notre Dame. Agreed- this is a great business idea. He said, though, that for him, it was a divine inspiration. Can you have divinely inspired business ideas?

Ah, notre dame, you were referring to jym’s H. Totally agree!!

Oops!! Notredame- were you referring to my H??? I thought you were referring to the gentleman who just proposed in the original post, that HE should start a business. The were both wonderful (and I will always cherish mine) but the video made of Mr. gray’s proposal (I just watched it again) made me cry. And that ring is GORGEOUS!

But ASAP and Notre Dame-- thanks! Your kind words are greatly appreciated!

OMG, to each his own, I suppose. I think if anyone did anything like that to me I would most likely freak out. I must not be very romantic!

Mstee-
Agreed! I would have a coronary if that was done to me. I would freak at the lavish expense. I am way to “frugal” for such things. But the sentiment is just incredibly charming. He must really love that woman!

What “apropros” timing for this thread!
My husband arrived home from playing golf today and annonced “I have a present for you.”
We exchange gifts at Christmas and birthdays, but he has never brought me a surprise, so for a few seconds there I was in shock-- until he handed it to me: a ginormous 500-count box of CVS Q-Tips, open, but only a few gone (yippee!). He said “there must have been some kinid of womens’ event” at the public course where he plays, and they just left this stuff. Said they also left also boxes of tampons, but he decided against those…

I have known him since 1979, so this doesn’t come as a surprise  Anyone with dirty ears out there??

Ispf72 – LOL. Now THAT is something I can relate to!

Mstee–guess i’m not a romantic, either. I would have hated this! Between the questions she “had to” answer, and all the staginess, never mind the cost.

Just not my style–but, to each his own!

My S found a couple ring-shaped shells on the beach while i was at study abroad one summer and painted our symbols on them–they were (are) our only engagement rings. Low key R Us.

garland-
I think you meant your h. (not your s.) found these shells. Otherwise, I have a few questions I’d like to ask…;)

OMIGOSH, and too late to edit. DAng. Yes, H!

Garland:

I’m with you on this!

I have strong dislike for over-the-top proposals, especially ones that are public. Cheesy, distasteful, un-classy and not to mention, undignified.

I think if he wanted to have everyone together, he could have proposed and then had a suprise party a week later

talk about pressure, and I guess I just don’t like the gaudiness of it all= roses dipped in silk from the bible…it so ironic

my thinks this was not a wwjd moment

Okay, your H, not your S. I am SO RELIEVED!

I am so private, I couldn’t bear it if anyone else were involved. I can’t remember “proposal” ever happening. But I am not romantic.

At my S’s Winter concert orchestra conductor stopped concert and proposed to his girlfriend in front of kids, parents, the entire high school really. Then the orchestra played Pachabel. I think I would have had to say no if someone put me on the spot in front of a crowd I would know he wasn’t for me. She, however, did say yes, and they kissed to the hoots of high school boys and the aaws of high school girls.

Hmm. Had to watch video.
I think it’s strange to want a photographer present, but I should bite my tongue because my husband is a wedding photographer.
I haave to admit the people were lovely, the couple and the guests, and everyone did look truly happy. Future bride’s dress was lovely.

Didn’t like the stiffness of single roses in so many vases or all the candles. Makes me think of fire, just proving how unromantic I really am. Song, titles, too over-the-top for me, and gee guys, edit out all those shots of using room key!

But for future-bride-in-question seemed like just the right thing.

I can tell all of you that some couples break up before they even pick up wedding album, even with a very elaborate wedding. We hate this because we are stuck forlast installment of fee because they no longer want the album.

On a different note, I wish OP a wonderful anniversary. Sounds much more enjoyable and authentic to me than hoopla.

We have friends whose kids have been dating for years and when the young man was ready to propose, he arranged for both families to be present. He and his girlfriend drove up to a beautiful spot in the Smokies with their families following behind (out of sight…she did not know). They had to work to stay hidden! Then, when he and his girlfriend were out on a footbridge overlooking a mountain view, the families came out of hiding and he proposed. Very sweet and romantic and she, of course, said yes.

Thanks, mythmom.
Today, for our anniversary, I am going to go exercise with my h. How romantic, eh.
BTW, I got married in White Plains 23 yrs ago and my mom had arranged to have a excellent male wedding photographer. Hmmmmmm wonder if that was your H???
