Iā€™m applying for the Mandarin summer program. Has most people gotten their results back? I havenā€™t yet, and Iā€™m really nervous LOL

5 Taiwan cohorts have already been sent out. All the finalists and alternate emails have been sent out for Taiwan cohorts. There is still an VSI program implemented in mainland China.

So everyone knows for Russian said in discord that only a portion of decisions have been sent out, so if you received nothing donā€™t worry.

I donā€™t think so because I saw a Latvian acceptance as well as a Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan one in the discord

I just got accepted into VSI for Mandarin summer! While I was hoping for in-person abroad, Iā€™m still very grateful.
Did anyone else here get in? And does anyone know how selective it is in comparison to abroad, and whether it will help in my chances for abroad next year? Thank you!

Iā€™m not sure how you go about getting access, but you have to get on the NSLI-Y discord channel. Once youā€™re there, Phillip is the expert on VSI Mandarin and can give you all the details. My understanding is that it is a rigorous and very useful program, and that it does indeed advantage you for an in-person version the following summer or full academic year
