I just went to my email and changed the settings to not show snippets… The last thing I want to see is “we’re sorry” in an NU email haha.

i want us all to get in so badly!!! honestly like… i can’t think of anyone on this board (since everyone actually takes so much time to support and empathize with other people) who doesn’t deserve to get in.

Out of curiousity, I’m wondering if you agree with Tex, nutterbutter (and anyone else)… Do you think a high percentage of people on CC will get in? Their point was that most high-qualified applicants would seek out a website like CC, to post stats and get opinions.

I sort of do, but I’m not sure if it WILL happen, though I believe we deserve to. We care the most. I’m sure there are others who just apply, have faith in themselves and just casually wait it out until the 15th.

Interesting… I honestly don’t know. I think we come from such a wide and diverse range of backgrounds, not only ethnically but geographically and intellectually as well, that we’re definitely a good spreadsheet for what the '13 class will look like.

That being said, it’s just such a toss-up. After briefly stalking brown, cornell and dartmouth’s threads and seeing all the deferrals/rejections kind of bursting the happy acceptances bubble, I’m in a bit of a funk, decision-wise. I can’t tell either way. What do you think?

i’m really sorry, but i’m going to have to play the cynic. i want to find out just as much as you guys do, it’s been incredibly hard to focus recently. has anyone considered that when this guy said that we would be emailed the information we need to get our decision online, he meant that we would get our logins and be told to check at x p.m. on monday?

I agree with your spreadsheet thought, I honestly would feel better if most of the CCers got accepted, even if I don’t. I know how much most of the people on these boards want it and it would depress me if most of the highly qualified applicants on here were rejected.

That being said, unfortunately I go back to the unknown variables. I hate not knowing my competition… I hope WCAS doesn’t have a majority of the ED applicants, but it is the biggest school so that’s unrealistic. :/

My guess? I’d say our odds are probably about 60-70% of CCers accepted. I mean out of the consistent posters, since I know them the best. I definately think, however, that we all deserve it. We’ve been stressing together for the last several weeks, if that’s not passion for NU - I don’t know what is!

Another question and I’ll finish rambling lol, do you think NU takes visits into account? (Overnights, tours and info sessions)

I’m pretty sure that’s not what he meant. He made it pretty clear that the email would give us the admissions decision. But of course he said it could be sent anytime this weekend, including Sunday night (although I mentioned in my earlier post that I feel like Sunday is improbable simply because its, well, Sunday :p)

@bank1019-- i believe they do; or else why would they bother asking on the supplement?

I agree with Sunday being an unlikely day to be notified, and I realistically see Saturday as being the most logical day…

I’m hoping so. Hoping it could be a tipping point for me, I need anything I can get.

Vergasam, I’m with you, but what time would you guess? 5-6 EST or 12 central when the office closes?

i’ve been following this thread religiously since its conception (and by religiously i mean clicking ‘refresh’ every five minutes) and i decided it was time to break down and join cc. anyway…how are you guys handling the thought of acceptance/rejection/deferral? i try to prepare myself and i end up being either depressed or giddy. do you have any pep talk tips?

Yeah, if the letters are sent out tmrw, I am hoping we get the letters on sat but its not likely I will receive them the next day even though I live in Chicago. It usually takes about two days to receive letters through the mail, but mail is not sent out on sundays
so I will probably have to wait till monday… unfortunately.

I might as well go ahead and still this from the other ED boards and keep it in this topic since I love it so much.

What would you do if?

Accepted:
-Probably scream, but not make it too obvious. Print out the letter and leave it on the table and just let my parents find it. I like being all sly/sneaky with things like that. ![]()
-I’ll just update my education info on Facebook until people start noticing. If no one does, I’ll print out the letter and just bring it to school on Monday. People’s reactions are SOOOOO much better if you don’t freak out to them first.
-Be uncontrollably happy and smiling for at least a week.

Deferred:
-Probably just sit here and stare at the letter.

Denied:
-Be extremely disappointed in myself
-Somehow manage to make a to-do-list part 2 for my RD schools.
-Lose loads of self-esteem.

So yeah.

@bank1019, i believe if you read my first post here about 5 or so pages back, you’ll find your reason that a percentage of people(like me) who won’t get in are still on these boards just like you

i mean i’ll be out of town until sunday. so if i get an email on my laptop while im gone i wont know what to do

I really cant wait!!! almost all ivies came out today… cant believe we dont even have a web login

@ ebright, i must have missed your post a while back, it may have been one of the rare times I wasn’t on CC lol. I’d still say you have a shot, so don’t give up! If your EC’s truly are incredible (which they sound like they are), NU may take a passionate person over a grade-grind. I’m hoping that in some instances, they would.

But believe me, I was in your shoes. I’d be top 3-4% right now and have alot higher chances of admission if I had visited NU earlier. Great grades as a freshmen, mediocre as a sophomore (tough classes, but lack of real drive- i was convinced I wanted to go to UT and just use the top 10 rule). Visited NU right before junior year… Straight A’s in all AP’s. It kicked my butt in gear. If you wrote about that, like me, and explained it, they’d probably take it as a great compliment. Or so I hope. :)

Hey, y’all.

I’m another lurker coming outta the woodwork - been browsing the Northwestern board here for a few weeks now. I gotta tell ya, this particular thread has been quite the experience. Haha.

I’m quite certain that I am among the least likely of us to get in. I’ve got good SAT (2280/1480), National Merit Semifinalist, lots of hours of drumline, some pretty good essays, but my GPA (3.52 (weighted, yikes), which puts me in the top 33 or 32% of my class…I think that is the ****in mark of death right there, balls) and my Honors/AP courses (not sure exactly HOW many, but not up to par with y’all) are lacking, and I know Northwestern cares a lot about that.

I did visit in September all the way up from Texas, so maybe that will help? Jesus, I have no idea. This is so crazy.

I’m applying to the School of Communications for Film, by the way.

Anyway, sorry for the long introduction. I did call earlier today when prompted by…well, I forget who, whoever posted the number. I can confirm the previously confirmed reports that we will get an e-mail either when or slightly before the letters are sent out, and our decision info will be in that e-mail.

Good luck, everyone. I’ll probably post some more now that I’ve finally made an account, eh?

OMIGOD
SoC for film here too!
So many applying for film…this is making me neeeervous!

xxInkxx

Ahh, don’t mean to make you nervous, I’m pretty sure your app kills mine. No worries at all, my man. :)
