NY Times: "At Colleges, Women Are Leaving Men in the Dust"

<p>Well, judging from the male and female teachers my Ss have had, there is no gender-linked difference in quality. Some teachers have been better than others but for wholly personal reasons. </p>

<p>Historically, professions that are male-dominated have been more prestigious. When they became female-dominated, they lost prestige and the pay also declined. This happened to secretaries and teachers.</p>

<p>Wow, this thread has veered all over the place. That makes me feel less guilty about introducing another slight tangent.

Did anyone else read the recent NY Times interview with Ben Barres, the scientist who underwent a sex-change operation? I’m curious to know what you thought of it.</p>
