<p>D continues to work on this. She has decided that she really wants UES and has appointments to see 2 places on Monday. We were not terribly surprised that we have to act as guarantors, but we were not expecting the competition and her having to make up her mind on the spot. It’s been many years since H or I rented and we had no idea what to expect re fees especially in NYC. The one thing that has not been a shock is the prices possibly having lived in the DC area for so long we expect things to be expensive.</p>
<p>D1 and BF live in what I sometimes call the shabbiest building on a very nice street in the UES, in a fifth floor walk-up; the small-one-bedroom/micro-bathroom/generous-great-room costs $1850. They really like the location, a few minutes from the subway, East River and Central Park.</p>
<p>Update - D signed a lease yesterday. Large studio with kitchen in separate room,walk up, utilities are included for $1750. Vonlost- it sounds as if she will be very near your D. We are going to the city this weekend and will be able to see the neighborhood. The lease starts on 12/15 so wont be able to see the actual place until then. She is very excited!</p>
<p>Congratulations. It sounds about right. NYC pricing is so efficient that there are not that many deals.</p>
