Definitely look at St. Johns, maybe Manhattan College too.

Have you thought about any other big cities? What is it about New York that is so special? What about DePaul in Chicago? Sure this would be a slight stretch, but if you could pull off a GREAT essay, some volunteer hours, and a couple of good recs, i’d say you had a pretty good shot. University of Texas would also be a school worth looking into… Also, the University of Missouri has a great journalism program. One of the best in the country and it’s not so far away from Arkansas. Most people aren’t ready for a big commitment like going from Arkansas to New York right out of high school. I’d try being realistic about college. It’s not something that needs to be taken lightly.
Best of luck! :)

early_college is a 15 year old. I think people seeking out NYC college information to be aware of this fact.

I would think that DePaul would be a low match, not a reach like suggested above.

Howeve,r there is a good question being asked: Why does your college HAVE TO be in New York? You are automatically cutting off hundreds of great universities that may fit you much better, and have better programs for your major, financial aid, food and dorms, etc. If you broaden your criteria slightly (to, let’s say, only big cities with some sort of stock or commodities exchange, for example), there will most likely be MUCH better options.

^ great point OHKID. I was born and raised in New York and never even considered wanting to go to school here. I actually had a great time out in one of your cities, Cincinnati. I guess it may be wanting to experience places you have never been.

I’m slightly disturbed! I have been researching journalism school for two years now and I want a career in. I suggested these schools based on the person’s GPA/SAT Scores.

Checking up on you. Given any thought to DePaul? Or anyother big city schools?
