<p>In the case of the ticket I just received on the NYS Thruway: one part was a “fix it” ticket (no light on my rear license plate) and on the other ticket I plead not guilty (checked the box on the ticket), wrote a letter to the judge as to why I felt I was not guilty (this was not a speeding ticket although that was why I was originally stopped. In this case the trooper was actually in the wrong), and sent it in to the court via registered mail. Yesterday I received a letter from the court stating that both tickets had been dismissed. So yes, you can plead not guilty by mail.</p>
<p>I got the court date yeasterday. It’s in December. Driving to upsate NY in December doesn’t appeal to me much. Can you change your mind and plead guilty now? I was ticketed in April. The officer said the court date will be sometime in August or after. They lost my mail and it got delayed while they were sorting it out.</p>
