This is a great photo. We have a copy of it; my H is a huge jazz fan (he listens to vinyl). Unfortunately, jazz is a dying genre. I read that it accounts for only 1% of music sales.
No. It’s not a dying genre. If you go to NYC - there are about 10,000 jazz shows there a month. The industry is booming. It’s what they are classifying as jazz to calculate the stats. Most young jazz artists are being classified as fusion or non-genre instead of jazz. .
LOL - who needs to buy new Jazz purchases when there is so much good existing stuff? Live music though is always a treat.
I listen to WBGO, a Newark, NJ jazz/NPR station. Jazz of all genres 24/7. And of course I am a sustaining member.
