Anyone who goes (from the Western World) had better understand the riggors of Sharia Law.

@sosomenza I am certain that each applicant, Western or otherwise, understands both the cultural rewards and sensitivities involved when living in a city such as Abu Dhabi. And for the record, Abu Dhabi is one of the most progressive cities in the Middle East. That can be evidenced in their consistent support of NYU Abu Dhabi, as well as their vision to create a world class cultural hub - a place where Westernized institutions such as the Louvre and Guggenheim can coexist with Emirati institutions such as the Zayed National Museum. And while I agree with you to a certain extent (one should be aware of their environment, and be able to adapt in a slightly more conservative environment), I donāt in any way agree with the idea that Abu Dhabi is ārigorouslyā conservative.

And to all of those waiting for flight and visa information, I would imagine theyāll send us that stuff by tomorrow since the pre-departure email usually arrives a week in advance. Iām pretty excited. :)

yeah dude, iāve lived here for 4 years and itās fine bro

Bro- Itās not the Broās that Iām worried about. Also I agree that AD is progressive but Sharia Law is not.

bro, iām a girl <3 and if the chicks watch themselves and act in a moral way which they would do in their own country anyway e.g. not stagger down the road drunk and half naked then theyāll be fine me and all my friends have fun and do whatever, we havenāt crossed any lines and nothingās happened as a result x

Got my pre-departure email what classes have you guys signed up for? x

The pre-departure emails will arrive a week before arrival most probably. The ticket from Omeir will arrive around 3-4 days before you are supposed to leave your country, and the visa will most probably arrive a few hours before your departure. Donāt panic about the visa. I was so nervous, that I email-ed everyone I could possibly think of, but my visa did arrive in time.

@hsawok Got the pre-departure email too. I have chosen the āDesign and Innovationā, I wish there are some classes about environment. what about you?

@De12345 āfew hours before the departureā Is that true? Thatās little bit crazy. I am so worry about the visa now.

I chose the one about āOur Monsters, Ourselvesā because iām interested in Psychology as my major
Ooh Iām so excited I can barely contain myself lol x

@FisherWu In our pre-departure email, Ms. Taylor clearly states that our visas will be sent to us by Tuesday, January 29th, 2013.

@hsawok I selected the same class. :)

Yay! I hope we get our first choice Bill <3

@FrancaiseLove Thank you! Actually āour monsters, ourselvesā is my second choice. I love that courses too, but I am just afraid that most of the literature I read were in Chinese (classical chinese) and itās hard to translate to English

Guys, just got my invite to Feb. 14th Weekend. Who else is going on the 14th?

To all of the lucky souls going for CW next week, enjoy your trip
Omg congratulations chuksy! By any chancr are you an ED2 applicant?

Thanks @Keely786. Iām so happy tho!! Iām pretty sure I got the last invite cuz 28th is deadline for submitting all the forms⦠Iām so lucky I could do that today cuz the next two days are weekend and no caf

Hey guys; has anyone of you recieved any feedback from NYUSH? I.e. an invite to the interview or something? I havenāt heard back from them yet. :O

Same here! Nothing at all⦠Although on the site, they said thereās gonna be a candidate weekend for those residing in China. Other nationals get an interview⦠I think?

Hey! You guys! There is a thread for NYU Shanghai on the NYU page, yāall can post there :P

But I was accepted into NYUSH EDI and if yāall want you can PM me if you have questions. As far as the interview, I am from the States and my interviewers said that they are only interviewing competitive candidates, and they contacted me for an interview about a week and a half before admissions decisions went out.

Iām eager to find other people applying for NYUSH! :)

@thawowtso On which page?
When do admission decisions go out for ED II? I mean, I applied ED II for NYUAD⦠Does that count for NYUSH as well?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1424159-nyu-shanghai.html

theres the link, its just on the NYU main page :)

And yeah, EDII applies for all the campuses you applied to. So if you are rejected from your first choice campus (which ever campus you marked for first consideration on your common app supplement) then you will be informed if you were accepted into any of your other campus choices on that same date. However, you will not be bound by your early decision agreement to attend if you are not accepted to your first choice campus :P
