Got my invitation yesterday!

Guys has anyone heard of the FA status rumor?? :/

@GlobalDolphin, the weekend is insanely busy. However, if you arrive early on the first day/leave late on the last day, then NYUAD takes you to various malls, beaches, the heritage center and etc. Also, you get to see the Yas and Saadiyat islands from the bus. However, donāt fret too much about it. The weekend is lovely! They take you to this gorgeous mosque and this famous hotel and a desert night is also arranged. All the best!

@HangingOnStars, what FA status rumor?

^^ apparently thereās this thing going around that if your FA status changed to 2014 award not available then it means that you were most likely accepted. Can anyone vouch for that?? :/

Great, that sounds like fun! Thereās no way to go to Dubai on Sunday?

My FA status says: āAward access not available.ā Could it be that the rumour is true??

GlobalDolphin, you canāt go anywhere without the NYUAD staff, and I doubt any Dubai trips will be planned. However, I think you can request them to change your ticket, and you can do to Dubai/roam around Abu Dhabi on your own. I am not sure about this, but you can try.

HangingOnStars, NYUADreamer, I would not depend on it. That sounds too uncertain. All the best guys. When do hear back? :)

I hear that admission rates for ED 2 are extremely low for NYUNY. Like 18%, but Iām not sure if thatās changed. Are admission rates really still that low for ED 2??? Even for NYUAD? I only applied to NYUAD, and attended a Candidate Weekend. About how many students would be selected from the 84 that were present? I was told that they select more from the first two CWs and less from the last two⦠They selected 60-something from the eighty that were invited to the first CW. Will the amount be similar?
Can anyone provide any feedback?
Also, some candidates have not seen a change in the FA status. Would me having a change be a good sign???

Hi! Are you sure about the FA Rumour?? I checked and mine is also award access not available. Who else have you asked? What if itās just taking them time to update everyone who was at CW? Whereād you hear about this rumour, youāve given me a reason to not worry AS much!!

^^ Hey! Iāve been discussing the rumor with other CCers for the past couple of days. Iām not sure if the rumor is true, but there seems to be enough evidence to at least make it a āthingā. So far, nothing has really contradicted it. However, we are looking at a very, very small pool of applicants, so we canāt know for sure. I assume you were one of the stronger candidates, so the message could correlate with a possible acceptance. I donāt think I am as strong of a candidate as you are, so Iām not sure about anything in the end.
Gah, how many of us do you think theyāll accept? I mean, we were 84, and there are already at least 60 places takenā¦
Also, I have asked some other candidates if they have this message. The two I have asked do not have them. When did you receive yours? Wish ya the best of luck :D

So, here is the thing. I have been checking my Albert every day since I have gotten from the CW. Trust me. Every day both my application status and my FA. And there was nothing. The application status said that my application is still processing and my FA page was empty. Literally⦠But when I went to check it this Saturday, I have seen the following message: āAward access not available.ā Which means that something has happened.
Then, I looked it up, on the NYUAD page, what does that mean and it said that it means there will be some finantial assistance but they havenāt really decided how much or we canāt acess that data yet. So, I would say thatās 99% sure.

@linting,

I submitted my research proposal which I had drafted for my nomination.

99% certain that this change indicates admission?

Guys, wth, really? 99% indicates admission? Iām going to freakā¦
Either way, Iām still skeptical I guess.
@scswickman: I also submitted my research proposal instead of the leadership essay :)

So then everyone who hasnāt received an update in their Albert FA page is automatically out? Guys that canāt possibly be the admissionās tell. Iām wondering though if there will be a phasing out of more FA updates or if theyāre done till admissions offers on the 15th. Either way, it would be quite horrendous if this turned out to be an actual indicator.

I donāt know what to think anymore. The evidence is there, but it seems too simplistic. Would NYU really let something like that slip so easily? Maybe, maybe not.
So there is no consensus yet, right?

At least to me there isnāt a consensus. It would be one thing if everyone who saw a change in Albertās FA got inā¦but as other posters have pointed out clearly there are people who saw the change in FA status and received no offers.

The people who saw a change and were denied admission constituted a different case. Their statuses were marked for different years (2012,2013). I think we can assume that this was a glitch. So far, however, we can be sure of 2 things:
Everyone who received the 2014 message was offered admission so far as we can deduce from these forums.
Everyone who didnāt receive the 2014 message was denied admission. Again, as per what we have observed from the forums.

If anyone finds something that contradicts the above stated, please post it.
If these conditions are really true, then there should be a strong correlation between the message and acceptance.

Well to contradict your statement take a look at : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1458444-financial-aid-albert-hint-applicants-who-applied-3.html

^Thing is , we donāt know if the year changed to 2014 for Merrhh, which is the year hangingonstars is referring to, but yeahā¦itās possible that the financial aid theory does not always hold out correct.
