Possible hooks: I think im an URM, though iām not sure. Iāve lived in egypt, Saudi arabia, Canada, and the USA (diversity). I speak 3 languages (arabic, english, and french).

Overall i think that i have a decent package, but iām still really worried about what nyuad will think of it. Maybe my ECās/hooks will help me out here.

What do you guys think? Do my stats give me a shot at nyuad?

@ibathleteāI like your chances. Those extra curriculars a very big + especially since youāre taking a rigorous curriculum. The ACT score is also a positive because I know a 25 will get you into NYU ny campus, and 29 is higher than that. And of course, the diversity thing is very positive as that is what they are looking for

My Stats:

Iāve tutored in English for 2 years, worked at a Saturday School English Immersion program for local Japanese elementary kids, plus worked at a summer school run by the same place for two years. I was Student Congress President, am also Co-Head of Grade 12 Student Affairs. I was the Student Leader on a school trip to an eco-tourism high school in Bali. I was awarded a scholarship to go to Munich for a Japan/Germany cultural exchange trip during the summer. Iāve also taken part in two cultural festivals done by my school, once for chorus and another as a leading role in the school play. Taken part in two MUNs, in my second year I was Chair Parliamentarian and also won the award for outstanding delegate. Last year I was also given the Academic Excellence award for my grade. Iāve lived in Fiji for 9 years, Japan for almost 3 years but Iām originally New Zealander, half Maori and half Caucasian⦠I speak French, English and conversational Japaneseā¦and yeah I think thatās about it⦠I looove travelling, I love the U.A.E. especially⦠and I want to go to this school more than anything Iāve ever wanted before!!
But looking at everyones stats makes me realise that I would be incredibly lucky to even be considered! Everyones amazing!

@Nyuadhopeful-----Props to getting that 7 in math and for all those predicted scores that are 6 and 7. At my school, no one has gotten a 6 or 7 in any subjects in years accoring to our ib coordinator, idk why but I have only taken the IB Art evaluation so far and scored a 4. Art isnt my superior area; i just chose it cause it was either that or music. But your stats look good too

ok, I wasnāt going to do this, but Iāll do it :)

yeaah the 7 in math was a definite suprise since its always been my worst subject⦠Iām going for a Pol.Sci Major at NYUAD⦠but Iām almost definitely sure that I wonāt stand a chance tbh⦠everyone looks so brilliant!! but it would be good if we all got in isnāt this thread kind of quiet though? I thought that it wouldve been busier by now⦠hmmā¦odd.
gl to everyone!

SAT: in Dec (I did appear in Oct but I want a better score)

my course is kind of pre-engineering(computers)ā¦it includes the subjects covered under computer engineeringā¦
no AP classes n stuffā¦
Electives- yes(but, technical electives)

GPA: they do not calculate the GPAs

Class Rank: top 5%(class size=63)
(However, we do not have official ranks of individual classes at suchā¦since state-level exams are conducted every six months and the number of students appearing for these exams is beyond 50,000 or somethingā¦so, as far as the ranking is concerned the entire population of 50,000 is taken into considerationĀ so, I do not know whether what will actually be consideredĀ am quite confused in this case)

Besides, I can converse in 6 different languages and write in 5(English, French, Hindi and 2 other regional Indian languages)

I always never figured out how to group things like karate (for me, music) into the national/international categories. I ended up putting my Grade 8 into āNationalā because it isnāt exactly what I would call something of international distinction (as opposed to winning, say, an international piano competition, which I havenāt). Silkysilky, what thought process did you go through to group your karate achievements under International?

I reckon the CW invites should go out next week at the latest (it would be 3 weeks before the CW by then)⦠and it would also be during the Nov CW! I wonder how that will be, hope there are heaps of news articles online.

You guys all have great stats! It makes me feel that much nervous about being accepted. So has anyone out there received their CW invitation yet? Surely some people have. Has anyone called nyuad and found out when theyāre officially sending them?

@luqmanra ā Um it was a big envelope for the CW with a booklet regarding the CW and an official letter of invitation, and I dunno but I think they sent a box to those who were accepted to NYUAD, after the decision date.

@KiwiKidā¦i did not do the groupingā¦i wrote what was written on my certificateā¦
(this all was a part of my bio-data actually which contained the exact words as on the certificatesā¦i copy-pasted the same stuff hereā¦i havent categorized anything on my own)
