Did anyone get the FA change today?

@NYUFan101 I got it today it’s a table and it says:

Aid Year Institution Aid Year Description
2016
New York University
No self-service access for this aid year.

@SavedTatWhim Yep, that’s it.

@aoeu123 how do we feel about the chances that this one means something

@savedtatwhim It means something as some people still haven’t gotten it yet. I would assume it either means that your FA was successfully processed, or something else…

Although I think the FA change is GREAT NEWS. Indiana University, which uses the same software as NYU, gave me a FA change two days ago and I was accepted yesterday. It definitely signifies something.

@NYUFan101 last years ED1 applicants came to the conclusion that the FA change DOESNT signal acceptance Some people got rejected who got the FA change and some people got accepted who didn’t get the FA change.

@fazeeeeeeel I think the people who got rejected had either applied internationally or had some international aspect in the application which threw the system off. The people who did get accepted had the FA change after acceptance. I think if you are accepted, you get the FA change. It’s just a matter of when you get it. I wouldn’t say getting the FA change now is a bad thing.

@fazeeeeeeel Also, some people got the FA change hours before the decisions were released. So to repeat @NYUFan101, not getting the FA change now is not a bad thing. Just hang on until the 12th for when the decisions are officially announced…

I’ve come up with an idea about the FA thing lol. Last year, no FA change almost 99% led to a rejection while a FA change did not guarantee acceptance, but was apparent in everyone who did get accepted. So maybe…a FA change just means you’ve passed through first round of admissions? They go through some applications twice or three times and eventually knock some out. So maybe it’s just a representation of passing through the first level idk I’m probably looking to much into this lol

Here’s what I think:

IF no data entered for merit aid, THEN display message “No award access available”.

IF data entered for merit aid, THEN display message (or table) “2016 - No self-serve access available”.

This is the theory, and the reasoning is that if this was true then if you get the message then that means you were accepted (because why would they determine a package for those who were declined).

Again, though-- people got the message right before or after decisions were officially announced. So DO NOT worry if you have not received the message. Go see a movie or something to pass the time (Interstellar was fantastic, IMO).

Also, did anybody here see Birdman? I thought it was incredibly well done.

@aoeu123 there were people last year who got accepted with no merit aid or need based aid and still had the change around this time

@aoeu123 If you enjoyed interstellar, you should go and check got 2001: A Space Odyssey. And all of Stanley Kubrick’s movies.

Any international student got the FA change?

Mine is also

IF data entered for merit aid, THEN display message (or table) “2016 - No self-serve access available”

lifted my spirits a little . I think my 1st trimester senior grades helped a bunch (highest UW gpa in my transcript)

Again, I got the FA change for Indiana (which uses the same software as NYU), so I can reasonably assume that everyone who gets in gets the FA change. Then again, I didn’t get the change until AFTER I was accepted, meaning that FA can come at any time. Merit, need, or neither will still get you an FA change. It just depends on when you get it. 15 days and counting!!!

@jarjarbinks23 Agreed. My senior year interim grades were the highest as well.

@sudo97 I am an international student too. And no…I did not apply for aid though.

@businessguy12 Yeah, in that case the data entered would be “0”. It’s still data, no matter the amount of merit you earned.

@DavidTaleb Big fan of 2001.
