NYU Class of 2019 Discussions ED1

oooh thanks @rindala‌. If the justification behind the FA Change theory is “hey why would they change it if you were rejected”, I don’t understand why it wouldn’t apply to internationals too? also, like an earlier NYU Freshman said “if school change then most likely in”, is that true?! DON’T WANT TO GET HOPES UP but high school is over for me I don’t have anything else to stress about?!

Ya I did a summer program which is most liley why I still have email access. I thought all applicants could log in though.

Do you remember how you set up your password? @NYUFan101‌

@NYUFan101‌ did you change your password on globesmart page? The nyu.edu email has a password in it and an option to change it! Or was it always active since you did summer program there?

Has anyone applied ED1 into CAS, gotten the FA change, but it remained CAS, and not changed to GLS?

@Stephbrooks I believe several CAS applicants got FA change without a major change. did you check the google doc?

What FA change is a good sign, hypothetically? There are so many comments I’m a bit confused!

and what does the program change imply? so many differing opinions on that too!

I don’t think there should have a change in school or program because if there is a change to lsp it basically means that you are rejected by your first choice, right?

@YilingWang‌ i would think the same, which I’m fine with because I included GLS under the “You can consider me for other programmes etc”. however, someone said earlier that admissions said it just means they’re considering you and that it could change or change back? and yet another post said that if it changes it means you’re /definitely/ into that programme!

@kkc2015 no haha I dont even know what that is!

@auspicium the way I see it, there’s a problem with saying the change only means you’re being considered for the other school. Each applicant takes 10-15 minutes for the college to review. If they think someone should be LSP’d, they’ll LSP them, not set them aside and come back to them later…that’s a major time waster because, after going through more applicants, by the time they get back to reviewing the applicant for LSP, they’ll need to spend another 10-15 minutes refreshing their memory of who this applicant is. So I think getting a school change probably indicates admission to that school.

I didn’t apply for FA but it seems like even people who didn’t, got the change. Also, I applied right into gls but I’m still underqualified for my gpa which scares the crap out of me.

@Smnparish‌ I see what you mean. My alternative would be that the main group of selectors would be looking at the general pool of students and if they believe that a student would do better at LSP, or they want you at NYU but you don’t make the CAS/Stern/Gallatin etc cut, they’ll send you to the LSP pool where another group of selectors weed out the ones who really can’t make it and admit the rest/send them back up the ladder. That would explain the timing of the change as well as some people reporting the status “reverting back”

After following this thread and reading the last year’s thread regarding FA changes.
I saw these patterns:
FA change usually mean good thing is going to happen
FA change without school change => mean you maybe accepted to your primary school choice.
FA change with primary school change => mean you maybe accepted to your second choice school.
No FA change maybe bad, but just keep waiting…something good may happen.

To lift up the spirits of the applicants(including myself) who haven’t received a FA change yet:
<a href=“Accepted and my FA is not available? - New York University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1590817-accepted-and-my-fa-is-not-available.html</a>
ED1 applicant.

@Stephtbrooks I did ED1 to CAS, got the FA change, and my application status still says CAS. It hasnt ever been anything else.

Can someone post the Stats sheet from google docs

Have people in the past gotten the fa change after admission??
