I would’ve thought this would be obvious, but don’t fill out or submit the housing app. If you’re accepted, you’ll have to submit it along with a non-refundable $1000 deposit by the beginning of May. Also, while you may have done research on the res halls already, there’s a lot you should know before submitting the app.
TL;DR: don’t submit the housing app. It isn’t time.
@seeniebeenie yes you’re right… But I accidentally submitted and I didn’t even know I actually submitted until I got a confirmation email… I was about to freak out :(( but I asked some students from last year that you could always go back and pay the deposit. The application doesn’t have to go with the deposit at one time. It could be paid anytime before the deposit ddl. Anyways, I feel so bad about my mistake of filling out the application by accident… Do you think this will affect my admissions decision???
@laflame420 do you think filling out the application doesn’t mean rejection? I hope you’re right… I made the worst choice to play around with the housing application and I thought this would give me a solid rejection since I messed up their housing system :((
I have a question for everyone. How will your reaction be if you will get accepted?
Personally, I will scream and wake up my dormmate and probably start crying at the same time.
Worst case scenario is that they deny your housing application, in which you’d have to be admitted to the college in the first place. So lets just hope for an acceptance, then we can worry about the form filling and housing ;
@laflame420 Thanks for assuring me of that,but someone said that NYU closed the application period because they don’t want the rejections to mess up with their housing system since they’re not even matriculating. Do you think they would even allow access to the rejections the night before the decisions come out?
@ayli9784: Admissions decisions are already made. I honestly doubt submitting the housing app is going to piss them off. It might make things a little harder for you in the future should you be accepted, though.
No, the housing app and deposit do not need to be submitted together. You’ll get all this information at a later time.
My point (that I failed to make) is that the housing app is something you’re going to want to spend some time on. I suggest waiting until the time comes and you’ve done research to fill it out. Us returning undergraduates can’t even access the Fall 2015 application yet, as the reapplication process has a set time.
From my experience, the housing glitch is legit. Some of you have looked at the 2019 forums, and have seen that those of us who had the housing change were accepted. That being said, the housing glitch is new and no one really knows what it means. What’s done is done, and y’all will find out in less than three hours. Prepare for Albert to crash or be very slow
@Zinubi what do you mean by “they deny your housing application, in which you’d to be admitted to the college in the first place”? Can you please explain a little bit? Thanks !!
@IBsurvivor98 I don’t know about acceptance, but my rejection reaction -because I’m so ready for that- would probably be like “Well then, now that that’s over.” and feel somewhat relaxed. Because this wait is just far too stressful and I want it to end already lol
