NYU fall 2010 transfer acceptance and rejection thread

I also just called the office of admissions and they said that my application was still under review. I just don’t get what is taking so long! I sent in my application the beginning of Feb! The wait is killing me, I just want to know already.

@MLBlady:

Exactly! I’m not freaking out over whether or not I got in, it’s just incredibly frustrating that we’ve been waiting for so long! It’s ridiculous! The fact that this is my number one, and the ONLY school I’ve had app problems with, just makes it even more emotionally nauseating.

I just wish that they could get things done in a timely manner like everybody else. The lack of universal transfer deadlines does nothing to help either.

it seems like they are still reviewing…and I also get another reply deadline before June

I think the admissions people just like messing with our heads. I called at the end of April to make sure all of my materials were in and the person I spoke to said that my application was complete and under review at that time - and I still haven’t heard back.

They really like taking their time haha.

@Octoberbay:

I know right! This is my number one choice and all the other schools that I got accepted into keep bugging me about making a deposit and registering for classes. I keep having to tell them to give me an extension and it’s just not fair to us. I want to know where I am going. I have to constantly tell people that I am still waiting and it is just ridiculous!!

@MLBlady:

It’s so crazy! I ended up making a deposit on one school since it was only like $150 (that I have no intention of going to, but needed to know I was at least going SOMEWHERE next year), but the others are $700+ and I don’t exactly have the money for that. If I get into NYU, I am totally going, but if I don’t, I’m going to one of the other schools. I’m so afraid that NYU will go past the deadline, forfeiting my spot at the other schools, and then reject me. I really don’t understand this. StudentABC joked earlier saying that they must have one person from each college going through the apps…at this point, I’m willing to bet that this is the truth.

@octoberbay,

I don’t mean that, I just want all of us to relax and wait for that…
It does not really help for us to keep frustrating… all we can do is wait… right?

P.S. the waiting just freaks me out so much… and I still have exams to go… octoberbay, you are not alone! =D

@studentabc:

I know you were joking, I was being sarcastic as well haha. Sometimes it’s a little difficult for it to come through in a forum when none of us really know each other and our senses of humor. :P

And I’m so sorry about your exams. Luckily for me, my finals concluded last week…but honestly I think I’ve gotten worse about this whole situation since then. At least I had something else to turn my attention to. Now, I’m on summer break and have all the time in the world to think about how much the waiting game sucks.

I think it would be better if the admissions people stopped giving us dates that we should “hear by” because then that date rolls around, and my mailbox is empty. So, I call NYU and they tell me to wait another week…just tell me that you have no idea; I would much rather that, honestly.

Well, I guess I would be feeling so bad after my last exam tomorrow… haha!!

But still… our decision of “please waiting” are far much better than “rejected”… -.-

Good luck for we both! =] btw, what school are you applying for? Im applying for Stern… @@

So is being able to get a NetID mean you’re definitely in?

Haha, exactly! I’d much rather hear “no decision” than “rejected.” It’s still incredibly frustrating though, to keep hearing dates to look out for, then no answer, only to find out that they haven’t even made a decision yet.

I applied to CAS as an English major.

Hopefully, we will look back on this in the future and laugh as we walk across the stage to get our NYU diplomas…

@quentin13:

If you can activate it, it’s not a 100% guarantee that you’re in, but it’s highly probable that you’ve been accepted.

my final will be a month from now… the waiting period is long enough-.-

I softly and politely asked admission officer over the phone, i really need to know exactly where I was placed. otherwise, it’s not realistic to wait. so she told me… I think I am going to withdraw of waitlist because the other school is constantly telling me that I need to send in deposit

Are most people applying to NYU as Junior or Sophormore? here

@ nyu0817: Thanks for being so positive and encouraging! :D. I hope you’re right…

@ worth1028: I applied as a Junior.

does anyone know that how long does an applicant need to wait to reapply to NYU after being denied admission

@ crust1054. you are welcome. :slight_smile:
@ worth1028: i think its 1 yr? I applied as a junior. this is actually my second time transferring.

anyone applying as a sophomore?? @@

I sent an e-mail to the admission last week, and i got the response this afternoon saying that my statu is complete and the app is under review…fraustrating-.-
