NYU fall 2010 transfer acceptance and rejection thread

How does the housing work? I havent gotten my packet, but they said I should have it by Wednesday… well that happens to be June 9th ha ha! Is housing done online?

Where is everyone living next year? Any advice for a sophmore? We probably wont have much of a pick will we?

@ydh

Actually, I’m looking forward to studying abroad! I think of it like I’m being forced to take a four month Tuscan vacation. ;)

Also, less than 400 students go to NYU Florence, so it’s an easier environment to make friends in, as opposed to being a new fish in a sea of 20k undergrads.

Everyone’s been telling me that they feel bad for me, but I honestly have to say that I feel bad for all of YOU guys!! haha

yea housing is done online both application+deposit

@october

Florence will be AMAZING!!! My professor told me so many stories about Florence and the villa there. I went to Paris, but Florence will be awesome. NYU did a GREAT job there. Enjoy it!

Haha, thanks missamerican!! Italy was next on my list of European countries to cross off anyway, so it’s better than a short little vacation. After googling some images of La Pietra, I’m so excited for this. The villa is amazing!!

No I’m not going to Stern (will be attending Cornell AEM instead).
NYU gave me a bad aid package (Cornell gave me 13k more in grants) and I feel that Cornell’s program will suit me better than Stern.
Not looking forward to living in Ithaca though :(

Holy Crap. Did anyone look at the housing rates for fall 2010-2011. so expensive!!! i submitted my housing deposit and i have starting to have second thoughts about it. =/

I’m going to Steinhardt for Educational Theatre. Any other Steinhardt kids out there? I’m transferring in as a sophomore.

I sent in my housing/tuition deposit yesterday (right after I got my acceptance letter). This whole housing debaccle with dates has me incredibly stressed. Has anyone else heard anything? The website says June 1st and early June for deadlines. I just don’t want to be stuck without housing next year!

Don’t worry makethemoment. They realize that they’ve sent out decisions late this year and have extended the deadlines as a result. Your deadline is still two weeks after you receive your acceptance package.

I actually received a personal email this morning saying to disregard everything on the study abroad website and that they’ve adjusted my deadlines to 30 June.

Two of my friends from high school that applied as transfers haven’t even heard yet!

I found out TODAY that I got waitlisted…I applied for Stern. I’m going crazy cause i’ve been waitlisted in my two top choices (only choices actually because i’m an international student and I just wanted to go to one of those two) and now I won’t know til july.
Are waitlists really used? Does anybody know something about waitlist stats for transfer students…I guess they just put a few on a waitlist for transfers, it is really mean to wait this long and it puts us in a precarious position.

Guapb89, Im wait listed for stern too. All we can do is wait it out now. I do feel your pain though, I just really wanna hear the good news already.

Thank you Dhruvds…hope both of us will get in!

So i applyed to CAS and got an email today that said that they could not offer me a place for the fall, but want to keep my application for the spring of 2010. When i went the the website to confirm that i wanted to keep my application active (there was no charge or anything), i got another email that confirmed my placement on the wait list for CAS. is this how other people are waitlisted? or do they just not want to tell me flat out that i was rejected?

any other tisch transfers???

i’m in for drama…wohoo! any others specifically for acting?? it’s been hard finding you all!!!

I guess it depends on the school you apply to. I applied to Stern and got the wait list e-mail but because they don’t do spring acceptances, I didn’t get that part… u just hold on. Maybe you can call to ask if there is a chance that you could get off the waitlist for this fall or if it definitely means you have to wait until spring.

Thanks ocotberbay!

I can’t believe your friends still haven’t heard yet!
If I didn’t want to go to NYU so badly I’d be so upset about how long everything is taking.

I have been waitlisted for Tisch undergrad film. I found out mid may and have been waiting…and waiting…I call twice a week. They tell me, “I don’t know if they are going to go to the waitlist.” They keep telling me a whole lot of nothing. I’m so frustrated they keep telling me they are going to tell me next week, but they keep pushing it back. I really, really want to go to NYU but next I’m going to loose my back-up option and I’ll have nothing. But NYU is so much better than my back-up.Anyone else for Tish, esp for film?

I would definitely hold on brain2. Ive spoken to a couple people who were waitlisted for Stern last semester, and they both made it in. Also, I know how difficult it is to make it into Tisch, especially for film, so yeah holding on is worth it for sure.

So I’ve decided to turn down Gallatin for next year, so anyone on the Gallatin waitlist might have a shot!

any wait listed people get into Stern yet ??
