NYU HEOP Class of 2024

Better late than never. You’ll be fine, don’t stress over it. Which school did you apply to? @ahmedc786

college of arts and sciences. I applied heop for cornell and columbia too. I attended cornells webinar for heop students and the deadline to get stuff in isnt for 2-3 weeks.

Yea it was next to reccomendations. @jkthere

How strong were your supplemental essays by the way? I made a good case for why NYU is a great fit for me but didnt have an overly elegant and craft style. More straightforward. I also said NYU like 12 times lol

My supplemental essay was very strong, in my opinion. I started off comparing applying to colleges to dating apps, and then jumped into why I would swipe right for NYU every single time. I talked about community events, clubs I’m interested in, a professor I had the chance to meet, etc etc. The only downside is, I applied to Gallatin, and though I did describe my interests and the courses I intend to take, I didn’t explicitly mention the school. That being said, I’m confident in my piece. I wouldn’t worry if yours is too straightforward. So as long as your interest in the school is genuine and they can tell your personality from it, you’ll be fine. @ahmedc786

This says feb 15 and 20th is the due dates.

That’s for Regular Decision. It says it on the same page. @ahmedc786

Im pretty certain heop is still considered regular decision. Regular decision and early decision is just based on timing. The person who helps me with financial aid attends NYU as a part of the HEOP program and said that there is still time to get in documents. @jkthere

Bro. If you’re applying through HEOP EDII, the only way you’d be accepted would be through HEOP. (Unless you’re ineligible or qualify without the program). It’s not like they accept you and then HEOP notifies you afterwards. If you’re applying RD, it would make sense for you to be able to submit your financial aid documents a little bit later. (Because acceptances come out later on in March). But if you’re applying EDII, decisions literally come out in like a little over two weeks. They look at both ‘need’ and ‘merit’ when making their decision, and because HEOP isn’t ‘just another’ financial aid package, they’re looking to see your financial need in order to draw a decision. “I’m pretty certain HEOP is still considered RD.” That doesn’t make any sense, my guy. Also important to note that if you applied EDII, you’re demonstrating a strong interest in the school. It’s not a good look to stall with your financial aid documents, because it doesn’t show commitment and dedication to the application. If you want to take your time with your financial aid documents, you do you. A NYU HEOP student is still not a reliable source. The answers you’re looking for are literally plastered all over the NYU website and Google. @ahmedc786

im assuming @ahmedc786 applied RD. ED2 decisions are due Feb 15, so obviously that can’t be the deadline for required documents.

Never said I was applying to ED2. Sorry for the misunderstanding! :slight_smile:

Did anyone get an interview date yet?

@jb0456 Nope, not yet.

@jb0456 Have you heard anything yet?

no not yet

Hi everyone, I was actually deferred from ED1 To regular decision, and I have my HEOP interview tomorrow! They sent me an email about a week ago inviting me for the interview/ information session.

Good luck!

@sof120 Good luck!

@jb0456 Should we both email them?

Let us know how it goes! @Sof120

Anyone know if it’s possible that someone will get into NYU HEOP even though they weren’t asked to interview? Or if there’s another wave of interviews? Cus I know some ppl were invited already so I’m wondering if that means I’m out of the game?
