If it’s 5-7K over four years, I’d agree. If it’s 7K x 4 = $28,000, then that’s a fair amount of money.
If money were not an issue, I’d go to Brown over commuting to NYU any day.
If med school is your goal, and you are positive about that – understand that what you need to get into med school is a high GPA and good MCATs. I’d compare relative difficulties of classes at the 2 schools. Organic chemistry, for example – my understanding is that this is a weeding out class at Brown and many students do poorly, and so abandon their pre-med plans. Of course, this could be the same at NYU – I have no idea. But ask yourself at which school would you get higher grades.
