NYU RD 2023

Tweet from NYU admissions:
UPDATE FROM UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS: We anticipate that all Regular Decision admission decisions for all three of our campuses will be available the afternoon of March 28th. You will be emailed with instructions on how to retrieve your decision once released. #NYU2023

I have gone through this thread and haven’t seen much for Steinhardt. Has anyone applied to a Visual Arts major at NYU?

@drumminggeek87 and all:

Just login to the portal. They had the same message about email for ED, but you didn’t have to wait for it. A purple (ok violet) button appeared to click for admissions decision on the portal.

Not sure about ED2, but for ED1 decisions actually came out about 10 minutes before the time they’d given (which iirc was 5pm EST?)

@00Jane My daughter applied to be a fine arts major at Steinhardt. Not sure what her chances are. She has gotten into the art schools she applied to (RISD, Parsons, Pratt & MICA) and was also accepted to Tufts/SMFA, but was denied at Wash U in St. Louis and BU. Wash U was always a long shot, but we had thought she had a decent chance at BU, so that rejection makes us now think that NYU sadly is not likely to be in the cards. She is still trying to decide between the independent art school vs. university environment, so maybe fewer choices will be easier and end up for the best! Is NYU your top pick?

Did MLK notifications come out yet?

@NietzscheRules Last week i believe.

So here is something of interest, guys. Some of you will be aware that some other schools have a program whereby some applicants are accepted but for a spring rather than fall start (so they do first semester in spring, they then do a summer semester for second semester, and re-align with their class the following fall). Starting tomorrow, some NYU applicants will find they are given this offer. This option will only be there for students that are admitted to LSP, Steinhardt and Tandon. The reasoning for doing this is to accommodate students they want at NYU, but cannot accommodate in fall because classes are full. There is no appealing to move from spring to fall, either for this year or the following year (these students can defer, but only to the following spring).

All that is fact. This next bit is assumption: I am assuming this is based (as it apparently is at other colleges) on the fact that space always frees up a bit by sophomore year due to the drop-out/transfer out rate. The corollary is that there would be less space on those courses for sophomore transfers into NYU, because the spring admit cohort will now fill up at least some of the space that would be usually be there for transfers from the transfer/dropouts. As a reminder, the retention rate at NYU (freshmen who stay on as sophomores) is 93%.

This is good news for those who really want to be at NYU, because they are making space for people who would otherwise get a denial.

got waitlisted/rejected from northeastern, USC, BU, UNC. Applied to Tisch for Photography. 1440 SAT 3.86 unweighted GPA. Not looking good but excited for this admissions process to be finally over ugh

@thisblows2023 do you have any acceptances?

accepted to JHU, Umich, suny buffalo, suny binghamton, Duke Kunshan, WL at MIT –
1530 SAT / 800 math 2 and 780 physics/ 34 ACT
idk gpa (my school does it weird, but 11/371 rank (hella grade inflation)
–applied to Tandon

woot almost done bois

Decisions come out at 8 AM EST, I called NYU and asked them on Tuesday what time they would begin releasing decisions.

@SHibah Their twitter says “sometime during the afternoon” ?

@BrookstoneOrbit I called their admissions office and I was told that they would start getting released at 8 AM EST… maybe all of their decisions will be released by the afternoon but start at 8

@SHibah so im really going to be sitting in class when my NYU decision could possibly come out…

@SHibah The latest update from today NYU posted all over social media is the “afternoon” of the 28th. They try to avoid releasing decisions while students are in school hence in all prior years it has been the afternoon.

At 5am PST? I’d be surprised. I know Boston released early on the weekend, but generally colleges don’t do this to their large applicant base from the west coast.

Just laying here wide awake. ?

soooo like im SCARED :open_mouth:

good luck everyone!!!

Did anyone did anyone apply to Tandon I’m so nervous ?
