NYU Shanghai

@inicolau I can’t stress enough that you are considered for all campuses separately. If you were not invited for the CW at AD and all the invitations have already gone out, it simply means that NYUAD has rejected you but their decision - however - does not affect NYUSH’s decision.
Let me put it simply, each school gets your application and evaluates you as a candidate and takes a decision that is independent of any external influence from the other schools. So let’s say you get into NYU NY and NYU SH, you’ll simply get two admission offers from both and then you can make an informed decision.
Also - since you have NYUAD as your primary campus, if you don’t get in there you are no longer bound by the ED agreement (if you’re an ED candidate).
Hope this helps clear some of your doubts.

I am a RD applicant. And i still believe i have a chance to AD because i didnt receive my invitation for the first RD CW . But there is a second one in march, therefore i assume they may ask me join it.

However i would be very happy to be in Shanghai too. Its just that i have more information about NYUAD and i feel safe because of their great well known environment.

Thank you for you response, i appreciate it alot :)

@anonetudiant @menendezen Hahahaha Enriqueeee. Hey guys, my name is Sarah Chang and I’m also a current NYU Shanghai freshman. I was a STEM student last semester, and now I’m in humanities. I can personally attest to the fact that yes, STEM is really hard, but it’s not impossible. And anonetudiant should know better than to go off hearsay; I’m disappointed in you, anonymous. STEM is a rigorous, really tough program, and I’m glad I’m out of it, but I left because I found that STEM just wasn’t for me, not because I thought it was a bad program. It’s based on some really good concepts, and once the school really gets going, I believe it’ll be a great program.

Feel free to ask questions!

I have just been admitted to NYU SH STEM Class of 2018. Can anyone direct me to a group of other NYU SH Undergraduate admitted students and can I be directed to a Facebook Page for such students?

Im in the same position as Hamd100. I’d been admitted for NYUSH class of 2018 and I would like to learn about other prospective NYUSH students. Facebook group anyone??

@Hamd100 @Shinhwa Hey! Congratulations to you guys! We were just informed that your admission decisions will be out in a week and then you’ll be added to the group, I honestly wish I could add you guys but it’s officially administered by NYUSH staff. Hope to see you in a week.
In the mean time if you have ANY questions, please feel free to ask me.

Hi, I’m a parent of a student who has been admitted for fall 2014 to NYUSH. He’s seriously considering it, and will be attending the admitted student program at the beginning of April in Shanghai to learn more.

Was hoping to get additional insights from the Class of 2017, and any/all others who might have input:

–What’s the general number of applicants to NYUSH? I’m curious to understand the general level of interest, not necessarily the actual acceptance rate.

–What’s dorm quality and dorm life like? Cramped? Clean? Not Clean? Friendly camaraderie among students?

–What are STEM classes like? Are they rigorous? Is the computer science program using modern technology?

–I understand the classes are taught in English, but is it native-speaker English? Or are the professors Chinese with only basic English skills?

I have other questions, but any input on the above appreciated (I’ve seen the earlier posts that touch on some of these issues, but thought I’d be more explicit in what I’m hoping to learn).

Thanks!

@demong Hello.

I’ll try and answer all your questions to the best of my ability.

I hope my answers were helpful and if there’s anything else, you can ask me.
You can also email: shanghai.admissions@nyu.edu or shanghai.advising@nyu.edu or shanghai.involvement@nyu.edu, based on the type of questions you might have.

I’m a parent of an admitted student. If there is a Facebook Group for NYU SH class of 18, please post a link, we can’t find it. Thanks

@SunnyCAMom The group on facebook is hidden and members are added by invitation only. We were recently informed that the RD admitted students would formally receive their email invitations when their decisions become official on 28th March. So make sure to check your emails on the 28th. :)

A student’s parent did create an email group for NYUSH parents. I can PM you the link if you want.

@shinwa,@Anuragr, where you guys given financial aid at the time of admission?

And @Anuragr, can’t we do on campus jobs from the start of the freshman year?

@Hamd100 I applied EDI so I got my financial aid offer along with my admission decision. I don’t know anything about on campus jobs because we haven’t been told anything about that yet.

@anuragr, what amount of total financial aid and scholarship did you get?

@Hamd100 I got 100% of my need met if that’s what you’re asking.

Hey everyone. I have a question regarding NYUSH as a student who might be applying for class of 2019.

From what I understand so far, once you graduate you receive two diplomas: one is from NYU itself, and one is from NYUSH.
If, for example, I decide to study Business & Finance at NYUSH, will the NYU diploma I receive be the same as the one someone from NYU Stern would receive if they were studying the same thing? I’m slightly confused about how this works, so if you could shed some light it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys I have got a online interview. What do they ask? And does everyone gets selected for the interview??

I have been asked for the interview. Can anyone tell me what s in the interview? And does this mean I have a chance of getting admission?

@didi254 I had an interview on Thursday. I don’t think everyone gets one, but don’t have any idea about stats. Don’t worry too much about it (I did and panicked that they were going to ask me to speak Chinese as I put learning it as one of my ECs but they didn’t, thankfully!). The interviewer was really friendly and it wasn’t intimidating or anything. She told me some more about the college including some things I didn’t know from online, gave me an opportunity to ask questions, and asked me a few questions to find out what I’m like. It went super quick too and we talked for longer than the stated half an hour. I know it’s an imp part of the admissions process and they don’t admit anyone without one, so I guess that means you have a chance of being admitted, or more of one anyway!

@vickyness‌ thank you much. I am freaking out. Mines on 24th hope it goes well.
