NYU Stern... rawr

1) NYU is absolutely need-blind. People who think they secretly are need-aware are too into conspiracy theories.
2) GPA is fine… focus on your SAT. Stern weights math the heaviest of the sections, CR the second heaviest, and writing the least heaviest. My own SAT scores were 780 CR 690 Math and 700 Writing.
3) Stern (and NYU in general) does not require SATII’s anymore. You can send two (one of them has to be Math II) if you feel like they strengthen your app.
4) Demonstrated interest isn’t a decision-making factor. The fact that you’re from Georgia will help you. NYU does actively seek geographical diversity, even though it’s not a huge part of the admissions decision.
5) Internal transfer into Stern, from all accounts, is not easy at all. I’m not currently at Stern, but I’m repeating what I’ve heard countless times on this forum.
6) MBA requires (well, not really, but it’s preferred) at least 2-3 years of work experience before matriculation. Just so you know. Also GMATs, employer recs, and all that other fun stuff is a factor.
7) GOOD LUCK. Focus on those SAT’s, write a nice essay, and you’re golden. Stern admissions is more stats driven than the other schools.

I was recruited for athletics and had access to the athletic admissions liaison, so I’m sure that all my admissions-related info is right. There is a lot of misinformation out there, Johnhughzy, be careful who you listen too.
