NYU Tisch

Sounds like you’re a rising Junior in high school. If that’s right, start taking your academic courses seriously. If you’re interested in NYU, you probably are interested in other top film and television programs and they ALL want to see high gpas and good SAT scores PLUS a creative portfolio. Go to the web sites for the schools you’re interested in NOW and look at what their portfolio requirements are. I attach the link to the NYU/Tisch site, but other schools have the details listed as well. <a href=“Undergraduate Film & Television”>Undergraduate Film & Television; This site list the artistic requirements BESIDES the basic admission requirements of all students. Does your school offer any courses or opportunity to learn about film? Sign up for the courses, or look for opportunities to film whether at school or in the community. There are also summer film programs where you can learn. An important step most kids skip is: Before getting your heart set on NYU or USC, etc. discuss the COST of these programs with your parents. As you go through this site there is a ton of information about all the different schools that offer film programs. NYU/Tisch is one of the top ones, but it also cost $$$$$ and scholarships are very hard to come by. The same is true for other top private schools like USC. Don’t be discouraged though, you can do this, you’ve already taken the first step by reaching out for advice far enough in advance to take action. Good luck!
