October 18 PSAT Discussion

and does anyone remember the answer choices for the weather man with the “nonchalant yet accurate one”?

I think i put anathema just because it was the only word i hadn’t heard of :)

Duplicity was an answer choice on the anathema one. Other choices were hyperbole, solace, etc

It was about a girl who didn’t like being bored and hated repetition.

I don’t remember seeing dogmatic anywhere on the test? :o

there’s
“nonchalant yet reassuring” and
“inventive yet accurate” so far

Dogmatic wasn’t the right answer. “Succinct” was.

what about the one with the passage about the business man…the question asked about the phrase “like this” meant
I put business records as my answer

I put succinct :)

Yay, I got anathema right. :D

@sopheng I remember the choices being anathema, something like duplicity?, solace, I forget the rest.

its definitely nonchalant yet reassuring…he explicitly says it later in a sentence that he felt reassured. and nonchalant fits well too…

Yeah, succinct was a correct answer at one point. I forget the question, though.

How about one of the last questions on the test, where it asked what extra paragraph would you add?

dagnabbit!!!

new questions: which piece of information would be most helpful (in abolitionist guy)

I think i put records of him and his customers or something like that

something about a few examples of being challenged or something? :S

Eww I remember that one. I was kind of rushed through that section.

Uhh, I think I put something about giving specific examples of challenges he had. I could be wrong.

The “Find a sentence that can be removed!” question made me laugh.

I said I’d add an extra paragraph about specific challenge Rashassa (sp?) faced. Also I omitted sentence 10 because it was ■■■■■■■■.

haha its all good Bigb14…i have had four of those moments so far (gulp)

I remember the “like this” question! It was one I had trouble on. What were the choices?

Bigb14: I too would like to know the answer, but if I remember correctly there were two questions asking about evidence/data, so I’m confusing the two.
