October 18 PSAT Discussion

^^^^yeah I guess so, it was one of those last minute twisted logic sort of thing…

van_sant is right I literally remember graphing them

no, 1a1 that was different. that answer was (1,1)

Wow, I don’t remember this graphing question at all. Hopefully I didn’t miss it :-/

^^^yeah that’s right

1a1: I think I put neurological –> psychological for that one, though I’ve heard intuitive —> rational as well.

I put commerce but really hated that one. It could completely go either way (or, rather, 3-ways, since I think we can eliminate ‘craft’)

I put intuitive —> rational. Can someone explain why neurological –> psychological would be right?

i don’t know why but I’m pretty sure the one with the midpoints was 1/3?

for the grids, did you guys get 6 and 9 as answers?

for the “long since lost” couldn’t that be more simply stated by saying “long lost”?

I say neurological –> psychological with confidence. The passage opens with him explaining the brain’s neurological impulse that makes it seek complete images. It goes onto explain our psychological needs and how we craft constellations to make sense of the night sky.

I got 9 and 6, in that order, I believe.

^ yes for grids I got 6 and 9 for answers…

^^ i’m not sure about the order…

Are sure it exactly talks about “brain’s neurological impulse”? Psychological needs? I don’t remember the passage talking about that?

The intuitive part I can by, but the second half of the passage wasn’t very rational at all. It talked about the erratic way the constellations were named and how they don’t even have to form pictures, but if we’re told it’s a bird, we’ll see a bird.

was that the last question?

hmm. just devils advocate- why would our brains be compelled to respond this way, isnt the root of that psychological? but i agree, whatever one i didnt put was probably right…

2 wrong in math cuz of ■■■■■■■■ brain
how the heck can i forget longest side = longest angle <<
also lol the 5thousand and 2 tehn one
i put 18 cuz i forgot about the 6 --

i had the same problems as u ruthless…oh well

-2 CR (are we positive on the answer as nonchalant?), -1 M, 0 WR (i’m not convinced that “long since lost” wasnt the answer)

for the long since lost, why didnt they just write long lost? does anyone know the words prior to it?

I’m not totally sold on nonchalant either, but I think you can safely say long since lost wasn’t it :-/
