***October 2015 SAT (US Only) Thread***

For Critical Reading I suggest developing an even, comfortable reading pace for starters. There are loads of guides out there for Critical Reading.

where r u guys finding the essay score??!!

@Darknesz: Yeah spare me the attitude…

“Wow…I did a lot worse THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD EVER DO…”

I never said they were “bad scores”…I implied I could do “better”, as I recall 2400-2250=150 points of potential improvement. Please stop judging me, you don’t know my scores on practice tests, which have been consistently in the 2300’s. I recognize that my score is good, but would you be happy if you score quite a bit lower on the real test as opposed to the several tests you took in preparation?

Lol plus you don’t have the parents I have who are disappointed with my score…some families value some things over others.

@JuicyMango Hey. It’s your score. If you’re not happy with it then that’s fine. You earned it.

True, my dad said dammit when I told him I got a 2370

At most top colleges that 150 point difference isn’t much of a difference. And SAT scores aren’t EVERYTHING, imo those are skewed family values.

@Darknesz215: Thanks for understanding dude, I didn’t mean to put down anyone else’s score or come off as pretentious, I just have certain “lofty” goals, you know what I mean? I’m not very good at anything else other than academic stuff so this is really my best bet for getting into college :P.

730 reading
740 math
730 writing w/ 9 essay

2200… Not as good as I was hoping for, but not too bad. Sucks that all my scores were relatively low, because now I have to work on raising every section.

Omg looks like we all did pretty well! I’m bawling my eyes out over a 2030!

CR: 620
M: 670
WR: 740

Essay:12

I’m so happy right now that I could fly! Still ready to continue prep for Jan! Thanks for all support CC! ^^

@PoisonIvy20: Yeah but if you KNOW you messed up, then taking the SAT a second time (since this is my first time) doesn’t hurt…especially for getting a superscore. And I actually do think that at ivy leagues they do distinguish between 2200 vs 2300 SAT scores especially among asian applicants. I do agree that it doesn’t matter a lot though.

And I misused “family values”…it has more to do with my parents expecting a lot from me because they have seen me score better on practice tests…never mind you won’t get it.

Did anyone else get an unusually low Writing score?

I scored 100+ points lower on the Writing section than I did on previous official SATs (one of these sittings was in 7th grade too), and I usually get 800s on practice tests. And the scores are showing that it was the easy MC portion that got me, which is just baffling…

Is -2 and a 10 on the essay a 750 in writing??? If so, this curve IS pretty bad considering the writing section was harder imo. What about 700 critical reading, is that like 6 or 7 wrong???

2200, not a TERRIBLE improvement from 1920 but I’m not happy because my CR score was 170 points lower than my math, which was 800. Ouch

2400! Bye Collegeboard!!!

@gasenioryear Well, what is it that’s causing you to lose points in CR? Are you running out of time, missing vocab questions, or misinterpreting the passages?

2370 (770 math 800 cr and 800 writing) now i have a 2400 superscore cuz i got an 800 math in january when i first took it. message me if u wanna know how i studied, it was largely due to this site. and for anyone not happy w their score, don’t worry too much. you still have more chances to take it and this is the type of test you can study for. when i first took it i wasn’t that happy with my critical reading and writing scores, but i worked at it over the summer. so don’t be too down. and congrats to anyone who did well!

… Improved 160 points from last time.

2010 (640M 660CR 710W)

I thought I would get at least a 740 writing. I am dissapointed. My last shot is December since I’m taking subject tests in November. My goal is a 2200.

2070 600 cr 770 m 700 w.

Does a 770 in math mean I got one wrong? if so I freaking hate my life. because I got an easy question wrong and made a silly mistake. That would’ve made me break 2100 wow.

@thesebajun: Pretty sure -1 was 770…if it makes you feel better, I hate life too.
