6 wrong (my most out of the last 4-5 tests ) for 720 CR
4 wrong, 2 omitted (my most out of the last 3-4 tests ) for 680 Math
6 wrong (my most ever ) and 11 essay for 700 Writing
I’m hoping I can cut those mistakes in half and be proud to say I got at least a 2250+ score after January 23rd. 2100s definitely a start (not quite the start I was hoping for, but I know many who have achieved incredible scores and scored around the same or lower than me on their first attempt). Wish me luck! This fall/winter will be a grind time lol
I missed 3 and got a 9 on essay and received a 700. I don’t really understand why each question was basically worth 33 points in that range. I’m also really annoyed by my essay score because I really was expecting a 12.
I also had the prompt about developing many talents vs. focusing on a single skill, which I guess was the more leniently-graded one as -1 MC = 76/80 and an 11 essay scored 800, not 790.
@azwu331 5 paragraphs, I finished at like the 3rd to last line. I pretty much made an essay template and prepared examples ahead of time that luckily fit perfectly with the prompt so everything went as planned and I was easily able to relate the examples to the prompt so I was expecting a high score. I’m almost certain that the grader that gave it a 4 judged it by handwriting because I’ve read the CB 4 essay example and there’s just no way.
I have been taking past sat tests, and I have noticed that the curves have gotten significantly harder. For example in the 2007-2010 tests, 1 wrong and a 10 was an 800 over half the time and 1 wrong in math was sometimes an 800 with nothing lower than a 780.
I got a 9 on the essay and 1 wrong and thats a 750. Like collegeboard what are you doing? I don’t want to sound like a complainer but this is kind of BS. I know it’s supposed to be random, but the rumors about October being absurdly hard are starting to feel strangely accurate . . .
Also can anyone with a perfect on the improving paragraphs section confirm that the answer was “delete therefore” to that one question.
@CCswami Well I know that November was the harshest curve last year for Math. But I don’t think October tests are particularly hard, hell this was my best SAT score by 210 points. (Went from 1870 to 2080)
To gauge how the curve has changed over the past year as well as how my scores fared:
Oct 2014: 2140
690 CR- 6 W 2 O
800 M- 0 W 0 O
650 W- 6 W 2 O
9 E- a 5 and a 4
Jan 2015: 2210 (highest composite crie)
680 CR (okay then)- 8 W 2 O
800 M- 0 W 0 O
730 W- 4 W 0 O
10 E- 2 5’s
Oct 2015: 2180 (FRICKLE FRACKLE)
660 CR (WILL THE CARNAGE EVER END)- 9 W 1 O
770 M (tfw you just don’t care anymore)- 1 W (algebra and functions l m a o) 0 O
750 W (this isn’t the score I wanted to improve but ok)- 2 W 1 O (I think this was the beehive question)
11 E- a 6 and a 5
I am officially done with the SAT. After three sittings, my superscore stands at a 2240 (690 CR/800 M/750 W/11 E). Am I disappointed? A little bit. I would’ve liked it to be at least 2280+, but I suppose I can’t complain. I guess I just can’t read very well? I got a 28 in ACT reading so… I’m just glad that at least two of my sections are 750 and above, and that I got a 10+ on my essay. I realize that to some of you, these scores may seem lackluster, and that you’re probably laughing at me from behind the screen now. But I’m glad that it’s over, and I’m glad that I get to move on (well until subject tests are done). Good luck to all of you who plan on retaking or taking for the first time (old or new SAT, or even the ACT, whatever test really). Thanks for the wild ride CollegeBoard. I won’t miss it one bit.
I think the writing curve was so harsh because it was so easy this time.
I NEVER got less than 4 wrong on writing; this time, I missed 1. Not from some miracle but because it was much easier than usual. Everyone that missed so many over analyzed the simple questions.
I have to agree with @Perbler . I generally miss 2 questions but got 80/80 this time. I noticed that after a while of grammar prep, my score started going down. I realized that I was finding errors when there were none, and for the October test, I just trusted my gut and tried not to overthink things. The curve was nonetheless pretty unfair, so my condolences to people who didn’t get the writing score they wanted.
What I found interesting about the Writing was that I missed 0 on the identifying errors. That has never happened before on a practice test. I missed 3 on the improving sentences and 1 on improving paragraphs and I usually get 100% on those sections. So I found that interesting.
