***October 2015 SAT (US Only) Thread***

@butterbear could you explain please?

Cool. Thanks a lot!

hey im back after doing some sat introspective soul searching. I figure if i wouldve underlined important parts in math i wouldve got 800 writing is a hit or miss for me but not all is lost as i believe i did quite well on reading knocks on wood* . Mainly just been lurking now, starting to prepare for november sat. 2 things 1: pre sure the >500 question said a/b = .288 what is B not a. 2: did u say that the person was analytical and not emphatic ? Whats -3 on cr ?

@kentonpalmer The question asked for one possible value of A. I put the person was analytical and -3 on CR is around a 780

@concreteolives what was the miss out on valuable lesson question about?

I think it was number 34. The question was which sentence should be placed at the beginning of the final paragraph.

@concreteolives do you remember any of the other answer choices? and what was number 35?

Anyone remember the question where an answer choice was “reflects the author’s experience perfectly” I didn’t choose that one cause “perfectly” didn’t make sense

“Studies have suggested people may experience more jet lag than (is normal because they…) or (it is normal by failing…)”

Isn’t the answer the second choice? “They” is also obscure in the first choice.

Guys please help me… I think I screwed up my essay
the promt was :
whether Young people should focus on one talent
introduction: normal background and three part thesis
My examples were:

Neurobiology- Eric Huber a famous neurobiologist discovered the connection between math and music and leaving out one or the other would be detrimental to the other (worded a lot better)

Athenian literature- in the moral of many stories such as Oedipus Rex, greek authors emphasized the importance of not focusing on one thing too much. Oedipus Rex in particular demonstrated one tragic flaw in particular, focusing too much on fixing the city and not himself

College Admissions- harvard admissions directer “John Mccormick,” argued that only people who have many skills will get accepted into college and go on to be successful

I had a good intro, 3 developed body paragraphs and i had no space at the end for a conclusion( i filled up both pages) could someone estimate my score

@concreteolives No it was #35. I remember because I was stuck between two of the answers and I had a wrong answer on my scantron and just as I was about to change it to, “miss out on the valuable lesson.” My proctor called time.

Anybody know what answers they got for sentence completions?

I know that I got:

counterparts
slothful, conscientious
enmity

Crap I thought I remembered more, but I am drawing a blank lol

anyone have a math equating section with graph of a survey for a restaurant with 3 questions on it? that was the equating section right?

Qoehd: I had the same answer.
Stephen: Your evidence doesn’t really reflect much on talent so much, but if it’s well written and supported then I wouldn’t see much flaw.
RandomSatBaller: Got the same answer.

For the writing, I put “by failing”… did anyone else put that?

It went something like: “Studies have shown that people may experience more jet lag [by failing] or [because they fail] to make small adjustments…” or something like that

The question had a “than” in it
“Studies have shown that people may experience more jet lag than [it is normal by failing] or [normal because they fail] to make small adjustments…”

Who here is retaking in november ??

I chosen the “is normal because they fail” because the “it” in “it is normal by failing” sounds awkward…

@butterbear I put “normal because they fail” … the “it” seems unnecessary

I chose the first option with “by failing to…”

What did you pick?
