October 4 SAT Critical Reading

Yeah i believe the chinese one was quite easy, but because these high school kids outside were playing In The Ayre really loud outside, I got slowed down a little. It is a general question that states “How does the author develop throughout the passage?” I don’t remember exactly what it said. It was the second to last question on that passage, if that helps any.

-8 is gonna be around 690-700, maybe a tad lower

sorry,i dont remember~but theres a consolidated list…somewhere here,look around, u probably can find it

Don’t rely too much on the consolidated list - just wait for the scores to come out.

What were the full answers to the humor vs. derisive question??? No1 should proclaim their answer is correct unless they can repeat in full the debated answers.

Also, lets take a poll for the Shakespeare genius vs. industry vs. mystery question.

Genius-1
Industry-0
Mystery-0

Feel free to add to this when you post.

lmao @ Ren. You found the chinese passage easy cause you are chinese. I think every asian found that passage easy, hahahahaha.

i put industry because the first author mentioned that if there isnt enough info about shakespeare, his business would fail. the 2nd author stated that industries would fall if shakespeare didnt exist, 2-3 sentences before it ended with that sentence that went something like this “and they say he even wrote books”

Blacklantern-you are withholding the supporting evidence for genius in your solution.

Both passages make some mention of an “industry”-passage 2 does so explicitly

Both passages explicitly proclaim that Shakespeare is a genius.

For this reason, both answers are right to some extent. However, I saw passage 1 as discussing the mystery behind Shakespeare’s genius; and passage 2 describing the industry that resulted from Shakespeare’s genius. The two-biography a year “industry” is only a sidenote in passage one. Genius is just a little more right in my opinion.

Genius-1
Industry-1
Mystery-0

yeah but the first passage was about a shopkeeper or business owner who sold shakespeare stuff and he said at the beginning of his passage that his business or other business like his would fail if new shakespeare info wasnt found.

What was the SC with accomplishment in it? Totally can’t remember that one.

You make a good point blacklantern, but would you call that industry “thriving”. Also, you should explain why you think genius doesnt fit, not just why industry does. the hardest question on CR sometimes has multiple “right” or acceptable answers.

Genius-1
Industry-1
Mystery-0

shiomi, um, not really,i think im just inclined to narratives…if all CR are narratives,i can probably get high 7’s … LOL. i hate scientific ones…

because passage 2 person never talked about shakespeares genius as much as passage 1 person. passage 2 person talked more of the inaccuracy of shakespeare pictures, how well known he is because he is on the english currency, and the tourism/tourists of shakespeare.

I think you may want to try to remember where the second passage “explicitly” referred to him as a genius.

^lol, we didn’t get a scientific passage this time around, unless you consider the physics/pipe/art one a scientific one.

PS - JJJJJJJJJJ
This is going to be resolved in 16 days.

^ all of which resulted from shakespeare’s genius (which he mentioned explicitly). We are not going to resolve this unless we have more input and perrspectives.

Genius-1
industry-1
Mystery-0

ADD tto the poll!

Once again, try hard to remember whether or not you simply assumed the second passage said he was genius.

If we have a lot of people’s input and the poll reaches a super-majority on CC; then there is a very high probability that the answer is correct. I dont like waiting. Add to the poll shiomi!

Genius-1
Industry-1
Mystery-0

oh man i dont even remember him saying that. someone refresh my memory of each passage of the shakespeare.

Definitely industry. genius to the highest extent is not stated in passage 2. He was simply criticizing the public about their ignorance, and mentioned Shakespeare popularity in the commercial industry. Passage one states Shakespeare as the object of curiosity, thus a part of the intellectual/literature industry.
