hftmrock: For the incoming student, it’s the best kind of cost…free! Our freshmen attend Orientation free of any additional charge - it’s included in the normal tuition and fees for the following year. Included is a room for the one night they stay for Orientation, meals for the two days they’re here, and the full programming put on by the university during Summer Orientation.

There are also activities hosted for the families of incoming freshmen, if any parents are interested in staying. Parents do have to pay a fee for their own separate orientation program; they will attend activities that are mostly separate from those their student will be doing. It is not required in any way for a family member to stay for orientation. I didn’t have any family member stay for mine, and I don’t feel like any information was missed out on in that respect, personally. I do not know the exact cost per head for family to attend - that information will be available during the sign-up process on the 6th.
