<p>In any case, it’s going to be tough tonight if like half of us get in and the rest (please, please, God, not me) don’t.</p>
<p>Okay, that sounded totally selfish, but whatever. This is TOTALLY decision day all over again. Except that day I was getting like four results and now it’s just Columbia.</p>
<p>Nickel Xenon: I couldn’t go to NYU because they gave me no aid, too! And I didn’t think I’d get wait listed by Columbia either, but I’m really, really glad I did. I mean, I’ve been desperately in love with that place since practically forever.</p>
<p>I’d give anything to get in. Okay, I’m being repetitive, I’ll shut up. :)</p>
<p>I have sort of the opposite situation. I have a low GPA for this forum (and for Columbia), 3.44, but great SAT scores. I’m hoping for the best. I really love Columbia. I spent last summer there (commuting :-/) and it was amazing. I just also love Duke a lot, so IDK which I’d choose.</p>
<p>But at least we have the comfort of knowing if we don’t get in, we’ve already gotten into great schools. So it’s not like we have the fear of not getting in anywhere.</p>

<p>@andromeda: I tried to explain to NYU that my parents were going from a 76k to a 54k income and all they did was give me like a 5k scholarship. I’d still have to take out 14k a semester, though. =/ Most of their financial aid was loans. It totally sucked. I was extremely disappointed.</p>
<p>@d4r7h3v1l: I had an 1850 SAT score. 600M, 620V, and 630CR. I had a 4.0UW and a 4.68UW. So maybe my GPA helped them overlook my crappy SAT score. I dunno.</p>

<p>I think that since so many people were waitlisted this year, people that enrolled in Columbia are probably waiting to hear back from a waitlist too. Then they’ll enroll somewhere else and Columbia will have a gap if enough people do this, so they just pick people off the extended waitlist.</p>

I sent them an email last night, which kept me up writing until 2, and called this morning and asked if they got it. They did, but I’m worrying that they won’t read it anyways. -_____-</p>
<p>Yup, 150-175 people off the waitlist at Harvard, and 90 off at Princeton. That alone will take 10-25 people away from Columbia, I’d say.</p>
<p>Nickel Xenon: I really hope you’re right and that at LEAST a few people decide to go elsewhere ultimately. Well, if I’m hoping for stuff, I hope I get in, but whatever.</p>
<p>I have a decent SAT score: it’s not awesome like some of the people on here, it’s just mediocre. I have good grades, too. The main problem is I’m international, and I’m asking for a LOT of aid. So I guess that may work against me.</p>
<p>I am at school. My district gives out laptops to all the students. We even get free tech support. Though, we have to return them by the end of the year. We don’t keep them or anything. My school has it’s own Wiki page! I thought that was so cool. XD</p>

<p>Yuck. I took AP Government, but not AP Economics. I had to take both the US and Comparative test. -_- Tomorrow I have Human Geography to take. =/</p>

<p>Yes, I’d estimate that Columbia would be taking around 100 students off the waitlist this year. Not sure though, DON’T take my word for it.</p>

<p>If you can work hard, you should go to Caltech. (You are going into the sciences, right?) If you don’t have a top work ethic, maybe you should try Amherst (their sciences are not that strong though.)</p>
<p>well I want to do premed I know in terms of just pure science, there is really not many schools that can compete with Caltech, but I heard from the students taht premed is insanely hard at Caltech so now I don’t know</p>
<p>do you guys think both schools have good reputation in terms of sending kids to grad school and med school (more importantaly amherst?)</p>

<p>Since you said you’re going pre-med, then go to Caltech. It’s an amazing school. You’re an amazing person for getting in. Even if it’s hard, they’ll look at the average GPA. So like, if the pre-med average GPA is like a 3.0 and you get a 3.1, you probably won’t be at a disadvange compared to someone that got a 3.7 where the an average GPA of 4.0. It’s just like in undergrad admissions. GPA is relative.</p>
