Official 2005 - 2011 Decision Thread

My daughter was rejected by Dartmouth. In the last few days she has received 4 rejections and 3 waitlists. She (we) had such high hopes - she is valedictorian with a weighted GPA of 4.41 (3.97 unweighted). Feels like a punch in the somach. Luckily she also has 4 acceptances, although wasn’t considering any of them seriously until now. But when I asked her which one she was leaning towards, she said, “I don’t know, I like them all.” She is awesome! Everything will be alright. (Thanks for listening - just needed to get that off my chest.)

Waitlisted (I was expecting rejection so I’m fine with that- almost committed to McGill anyway)

3.65 GPA
31 ACT

I think what pushed me from rejection to waitlist was a really, really good recommendation letter from a professor at Dartmouth; I took his class in the fall.

this makes me feel so hopeless for next year…

Your daughter defines success. Having this kind of positive attitude about life in general says far more about her and the kind of life she will lead than any college acceptance ever could.

rejected. whatever.

Waitlisted

General Comments: I think essays really do play a crucial role in this process. There are people ranked above me who’ve applied to the same schools as I did, and they were unfortunately rejected. Anyhow, I feel incredibly grateful for the results, and best of luck to all ya’ll.

:( I am applying this year and these stats are daunting to me.

@gheffty93: same here. i am applying ED and i just submitted my application last week. i mean, i have decent grades, but none of this “3.93 unweighted” stuff. not even close. but, who knows. best of luck!!
