wow, congrats to everyone who got in
it seems like it really IS easier to get in than i thought :open_mouth:
i might have stood a chance :(

not easier

I think the difference is that Dartmouth really looks at the whole package – especially ECs, essays, and recommendations – and doesn’t just consider GPA and test scores.

i don’t know about that. couple thousand kids applied for what? 400 spots. that is not a very pleasant ratio as far as i’m concerned. and there is still regular decision. it is the smallest of all ivies though. i would think it would be far easier at say, i don’t know, a school with about 13000 kids. give or take… not rippin cornell, my sister goes there.

Did you guys get your acceptance letters (not e-mail) yet? Is it in package form or just a letter? Thanks.

“wow, congrats to everyone who got in
it seems like it really IS easier to get in than i thought :open_mouth:
i might have stood a chance”

ah yes, nothing makes me feel better about being accepted than THAT statement…i’m elated, truly

I was accepted to Dartmouth as well… this is my first post here, so I dont know if I am supposed to post stats or what…
I received the actual letter on Friday I think… It had a letter, a rubber sticker thing, a certificate, and a return letter.
EDIT: I just read the original post so now I know what I am supposed to do…

ahh, looks like a fine place for ultimate frisbee during the less frigid months of the year…

Yeah, I live in Hanover, and go to Hanover High School (I’m taking a multi var. calculus class there now… :P)… anyway - it is a BEAUTIFUL town - I already know like 4 of my classmates who got in (our grade is only like 200 kids… so that’s 2%, which is HUGE - but of course it’s in our home town, and there are parents who work there too, etc… unfortunately, not mine…

anyway - it’s a BEAUTIFUL town, and i’m sure you’ll love it… I applied ED to Williams and am expecting a response in … 3 DAYS! I was seriously considering eding to dartmouth… but… 4 more years in hanover is a little much… 17 is quite enough

Congrats - and btw - if you got to Hanover over the summer or some other time - go into Norwich, VT (town right across river from hanover… <1 min away) and stop at Dan and Whits general store - it’s AWESOME, and i work there, so i can say congrats to you personally. hahah… seriously, though, great school, great people, have fun

Oh people, sorry, i didnt mean to be mean/rude or anything with that statement…

Its just that I’ve always had this view of ivy leagues as COMPLETELY out of my league and such. I’m of course not saying its easy, its incredibly tough to get into an ivy league! And dartmouth is amazing too. I didn’t mean to be condescending. all the people who got in and even got deferred/rejected look like amazing candidates.

It’s just that personally, I always thought I never had any chance whatsoever to get into any sort of ivy, and I was just expressing my feeling that perhaps it could have been possible and maybe I could have tried to apply or something. I just felt from looking at some of your stats, that mine are somewhat comparable, and I might have stood a chance if i had applied, i was just voicing my regrets…i’ve just been really regretting lately that I didnt try to apply for an ivy. sigh.

Geez. I have such a bad way with words. I always end up saying some random statement that angers people. sorry, guys, my sincere apologies :</p>

Hey akhila, don’t worry about it…I have the same foot-in-mouth disease :P

A friend of mine was accepted! She is a black female from the Houston area, and was a recruited athlete.

Congrats to everyone!

Just wanted to leave a post for Golds aka Jane who is NOT plain and also to thank her profusely for making me the avid/addicted ccer that I am today. Ummm to all the rest of you Dartmouth 2010ers, bring itt!! Brown will be kicking some major green ass in the near future.
