Does this mean that the curves were not modified to account for the fewer questions? What I mean is the following: pretend a test taker missed two math questions. He/she would usually get a 760. But, with only 38 questions instead of 54 questions, many believed that the score would be more like a 740 on the June 6 SAT. Either it means that, or if you missed two they extrapolated it to minus three, thus producing a lower score.
Thoughts?
I think it means they took a couple of tests and used 38 questions instead of the normal 54 and viola! the kids got the same amount wrong… so yes if you got 2 wrong on this test you will probably get a lower score than if you got 2 wrong on a test with 54 questions.
Hmm that’s a good point @golfcashoahu. But do we even know how equating works on the SAT as usual? I’m assuming they probably use the level of difficulty and the skill area and do something with that. I feel like we’d probably just be compared with each other and then they rank the level of difficulty compared to other tests? I may be way off base here but just a guess on my part. Hoping it goes well for everyone! I’m super nervous myself.
I was really calm this afternoon (went shopping!) but now that scores will be out in 6 hours, I feel like I’m about to throw up and I can’t concentrate on anything
