Am I the only one that didn’t finish the MC? I randomly bubbled in 7 of them but feel I did well on the grid ins, the rest of the MC and most of the FR. Do the guesses put a 5 in jeopardy? Thanks in advance.

Actually photosynthesis occurs most between 680-700 nm, and less as you get further away. Photosystem II (680 nm) and Photosystem I (700 nm)

You’re not the only one, don’t worry. I left 1 grid-in and ~10 MC blank due to lack of time, but I think I did well on the free-response. I’m sure you’re still in the running for a 5.
Me, I’m hoping for a 4. :S

This exam was an absolute, utter joke. My teacher was ****ED when he saw that #7 on the FRQ was an AP question. That’s the type of question he expects all of his Bio I students to pass easily.

Easily 40/63 and 3/6 on the MC. I got all of the FRQ correct except for 2c, possibly 3b, the entirety of question 4, and 8.

ap stats saved me on the chi square :D

AP Chemistry came in handy for any topics regarding organic molecules, entropy and enthalpy, and acids and bases

I don’t know what you guys are talking about. That test was a breeze.
About 2c and the evolutionary history, I said something about the endosymbiotic theory where an organism engulfed the bacteriorhodophin, becoming what we know today as a plant, and then the plant then only absorb light waves that are similar to what the bacteriorhodophin absorbed. A key thing from the question is that it mentioned that the bacteria existed BEFORE plants. So plants competing against bacteria would not be a valid answer

Any tips for a late tester?

According to Cliffnotes, the MC section is multiplied by 0.725 and the FRQ by 1.25, giving a total score of 100. According to their scale, a “probable grade of 5” is 60-100, 50-59 for a 4 , 40-49 for a 3, 30-39 for a 2.

Hopefully this is what ETS will use when they come up with the grading scale for the real exam, it’s the least they owe us for coming up with a “better” exam.

I am so in the range for a 5 if they use that grading scale.
But something tells me we won’t be so lucky and the curve will be at 65

@jadenio my teacher said that Z would’ve been a red blood cell :)

@Johns123 you’re being sarcastic right?

@jtalley24 No, chemistry was useful for a lot of topics, although the topics were covered little if not at all on the test, but were still discussed and tested in the class.

Is the answer to the carbon cycle question specifically cellular respiration or aerobic respiration? I know the first one is photosynthesis. I put decomposition for the second answer, do you think it’s legitimate?

So this is totally the wrong place to post this but I can’t figure out how to make a new thread so whatever… We’re doing post-AP projects in my Biology class, and I chose to do a survey of the new Biology that cropped up recently that makes the book outdated (e.g. four-stranded DNA). Are there any other things that you guys would be willing to point out for me? Again sorry about posting in the wrong thread…

@dateepsta, to start a thread scroll up towards the cc logo, under it in blue (links) will show the classifications of this thread and its categories. The last one is sciences, click that, then go to thread/forum (don’t remember which) tools and start a new thread.

Regarding the FRQs, how do I answer them? I understand it’s supposed to be something like an essay format, but there are multiple sections (a, b, c, etc.), so…
Basically, do I answer like this:
1.
a) blah blah blah
b) blah blah blah
c) blah blah blah

or like this

1.
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah (with answers to a,b,c in the paragraph)

I don’t think they care how you answer them as long as they are in complete sentences and are correct.

I’m taking the late test tomorrow… Any advice? thanks in advance

Make sure you don’t take too much time on each MC question, it seemed like the passages / questions got longer as you went on and I ended up not finishing the last 3 grid in. Make sure at the part after #63 where it says “DON’T STOP” you actually don’t stop
