OFFICIAL AP Environmental Review Thread

im not sure about bartleby’s questions…but i’ll try to answer them TT

a)$300 is only the product cost, but theres more environmental cost, such as air pollution(emits…co2?) and it’s bad for human health since they wuld develop lung and eye irritation.
b)this releases Co2, which would make greenhouse effect faster by absorbing more heat in the atmosphere/troposphere.
c)this can be modified by cleaning the weed before smoking it (like scrubber kinda way…)
d)Clean Air Act- can’t smoke weed in public place.
Clean Water Act- since this toxic substance would eventually go to water cycle, it would affect water quality. so can’t smoke weed in public place or basically banning it would be helpful.

sorry this might sound like BSing…TT i don’t really know about weed =(

p.s is this the correct answer for ethanol?
Ethanol is extracted from plants (such as corn), so it reduces food supply for people since farmers rather plant corns for ethanol to get more money; deforestation caz we need more space to plant corns, thus leads to soil erosion, global warming. also, food price would go up so more people might starve.

LOL - I didn’t think anybody would answer it, but, um, that’s correct, although D seems a little far-fetched. (It was a joke but you applied the laws fairly well.)

hahahah reli? kul:P

Q: give ecological services and economic servies of Marine ecosystems
Q: name one keystone and indicator species and explain why it is one

since no one answers, i will do it by myself first…
Ecological services of marine ecosystems: absorbs Co2, biodiversity thz found no where else, dilutes waste…

economical: jobs, food, recreational…

keystone- Wolf (or other high trophic level animals); becasue they control other populations (such as their preys…etc)
indicator- Sea Trout; they indicate water quality bcaz they only live in clean water with enough DO

u guys can add on if my answers are not elaborated enough.
Q: What are the 6 substances that Kyoto Protocol says we should emit less

Anyone care to explain this to me: (from the 98 exam) - why is a deer at a lower trophic level than a lion, a spider, and a snake?

Also, DDT is derived from petroleum?

because deer eats autotrophs?
and yea i think DDT is derived from petroleum…

Good Luck Everyone!
imma have my exam in less than 12 hours =S
Wish me luck!!! >///<

come to the chat room, whenever u guys have time - last minute review

Let’s all not study & rely on the curve.

Who am I kidding? These are CC people we’re talking about… :)

For the environmental science exam, does anybody know the curve? What percentage is needed to get a 5?

Does any1 have a link to get a list of all the laws?

Is there a specific set?

If not, and anyone is interested, I typed up a mess of notable EPA-regulated laws and provided summaries of what they say. It’s for Envirothon, but I’ll wager most of them are in the pool of laws they pull from.

^^ i’m definitely interested. i’ll pm you my email address.

there was one…on the internet i think kk
anyways, MY EXAM IS OVERRRR!!! YAYYYYY ><
NO MORE APES
good luck you guys~~~~u wil do well (:!!!

I think I’ll get at least a 4! :D

OMG THE EXAM WAS SO EASYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
EXPECTING A 5 [=
The only thing I hated on the free response question was number 2 because of the math involved.

Wow. The FRQs were a pleasant surprise. I was expecting them to be hard.

haha…yes…i expected harder FRQs too…no 2 was intimidating…I prolly lost a few points on that…but other than that, i TOTALLY aced FRQ. ;)
