@master1006 17% but I would apply ED which is 36%. The average ACT score is 31-34

@master1006 im sure Harvard does, but that is more likely to be someone who is an URM, an athlete, or has OUTSTANDING ECs. Either way it isnt a safe score

I think your ACT score is just fine for JHU!! I mean to be more competitive of course, but truthfully I think you should start looking at other aspects on your application because once admission counselors go above 32, the test scores don’t matter as much.

@fcallicotte ok thanks! Thats what im unsure of lol i dont know what “good enough” is! But I am definitely focusing on my ECs a lot this summer

No problem!!! I go to a gifted academy in my public school where a handful of kids apply to top notch schools like JHU, Duke, and Ivy Leagues. To be honest, I’ve seen who get 2400’s get rejected and kids who have 2100’s be accepted. Really it came down to who could be seen as unique and different. Which doesn’t have to be you are a genius who found the cure to the common cold or an actress in hollywood because some kids were not. You just have to show those small quirks and qualities that make you VaishS and no one else.

@mjg1234 doubt it haha

@fcallicotte ok that makes me feel better. However even though i have heard passion and uniqueness is the key, im not sure i know how to make myself stand out or even if I know who I am lol. I guess im going to try to jump into a few different things this summer and figure out

@VaishS I totally know the feeling! I feel like my brain is so invested into other things. There was this one girl at my school who got accepted to Dartmouth, and she was kinda like you and me, involved in other things that didn’t have a strong correlation. She had excellent statistics (2170 SAT), well I find that excellent, here on collegeconfidential it would be more of a shame, but really it was her essay. It really just focused on the strong bond she had with her brother, it was so beautifully written. I don’t even think it’s passion sometimes, sometimes it may just be that the person who’s reviewing your application just connects with you.

@VaishS lol perfect essay topic for u: how I was influenced by College Confidential. I gauruntee no one else jas written about that

@master1006 @fcallicotte YOU ALL KNOW ME TOO WELL. HOW?!?!???!?

I feel like everyone on college confidential is somewhat alike, but can I just rant about how people can get like a 2100 on here and people will judge them or a 32 and suddenly people jump all over them. I’m just like…what?

@VaishS remember…I know where u live

@VaishS ima take a shot in the dark nd say…ur an asian female…4.0 gpa unweighted…taking AP classes…not much ECs but hoping for some strong leadership positions…wants to go to JHU.

Lol I probally just described thousands of ppl. Real guess: ur Indian…so add a couple.more thousand ;)

@fcallicotte haha well the fact that we are on college confidential at midnight says something about us… I personally think regardless of what someone gets almost everyone on CC will end up in a good place just due to the good (and sometimes harsh as u mentioned) infuences and the immense dedication. Its just sometimes hard to believe that everyhting will be ok at some point. Someones the comments can be hard, but honestly sometimes they actually help a person want to do better it could be good or bad. Overall I think CC is a really good environment :)

@master1006 holy ■■■■ that was creepy accurate, everything u said

@VaishS I completely agree, sometimes it is welcoming but at other times I wish kids wouldn’t get so down on each other. I think that they will really be fine wherever they go. and I have to know was his real guess correct?
asian or indian, i must know!

@fcallicotte I am Indian (which is also Asian) everything he said was right

@VaishS I’m a total dufus, sorry, too late to be thinking rationally. And if those are your stats, I think you have nothing to worry about.

@fcallicotte Thankssss However sure i get abt my application, i know im going to worry for the next two years like its my job -_- I have wanted to go to JHU since like 7th grade but i havent even been able to visit

@VaishS not really the way u talk about JHU means u prolly got 4.0 uw, indian comes from ur name ( lol call it an indians ability to detect other indian names), ur a sophomore, and few sophs have leadership positions…its elementary my dear Watson ;)

Lol btw not meaning to demean u but so far what ive said is true for like all indians so u just fit the bill…indians, or asians, have all that and so do I (mostly) so…yeah its pretty common
