@crepes indeed, and got that disappointing news. :((

From a live ACT chat at 10:55 CST Wed.

Started by my question, “Will you continue to release April test scores throughout the day today?”

Andrew D: No, scores are released by 9am central time on Wednesdays and Fridays
You: Disappointing to hear they will continue to drag out but thank you for your reply
Andrew D: We actually started releasing scores for April a week earlier than normal, so you are still ahead of most people who test.
You: But, I have to say, releasing them in batches is a terrible policy for students who are anxiously awaiting their results. Again, thank you for your polite response.
Andrew D: I understand. Please check back on Friday.
You: Thanks Andrew

When you are chatting with the people at ACT please remember they are almost certainly not the ones setting the company policies. Expect to see many of you back here bright and early Friday.

I’m convinced that I will never get my scores…Do you think I’ll know what I got before I gradate from college? :))

Well, I finally decided to check my ACT account for the scores. This is my first test, and I plan on taking another come Fall.

Composite: 30

English: 32
-Usage/Mechanics: 17
-Rhetorical Skills: 15

Math: 28
-Elem. Algebra: 15
-Algebra/Coord. Geometry: 14
-Trig./Plane Geometry: 15

Reading: 33
-Social Studies/Sciences: 16
-Arts/Literature: 18

Science: 28

I’m incredibly bummed about my Math score. I guess I somehow forgot how to do basic algebra.
The Science score came as a surprise. I was convinced that I got at least a 30 in Science.
Ultimately, I’d say that this was a good first attempt. I can easily increase my Math score. My goal of 32 awaits!

Still registered…ugh, need to stop obsessing, need to do other things

How important is the science section looked at. I got a 22 on my science but was above a 27 on all my other sections. Do you think that will show that I am very bad at science or that the science part was hard. On every practice test I ever took I scored above 28 but now I bombed the section.

Question: This is what my test date screen looks like:
(Link deleted)
It doesn’t list the April 2014 test at all. But does list my previous tests.
I hear people talk about being listed at “registered” and things like that before scores post. I’m worried I’m not in the system for this.

Any thoughts?

Who wants to join my movement to boycott the ACT on account of illogical and painful score reporting? :ar!

I’m afraid I’ll never get my scores if I boycott them :(

@fcallicotte At this point, I’ve accepted that I’ll never get my scores . If they handled scoring better, the ACT would beat the SAT hands down.

I completely agree, the first time I took it, it was October and I got my scores right away but this is just painful…I feel like a lot of people have not received their scores yet

I think it was worth the wait. I improved from a 28 from my first time to a 33 this time! Really happy with my results

Is there a good chance I’ll get a score Friday? As in are most scores being reported friday or could it be dragged out a few more weeks

How can they curve the test when they haven’t correct them all? Or are they basing the curve on past tests? Or have they corrected them all and they just haven’t linked scores with testers yet ? It seems so strange to release some earlier than others.

How many of you took the ACT plus writing?

To answer some questions, and to raise a few:

ANSWERS:
@hdbrill, and others: Guys, they said the “first batch” of scores would be released on Monday. It’s only been two days. Lighten up. Anyway, the ACT started reporting scores earlier this month, so they’re no later than usual.

@Banquo: From what I’ve heard, there’s a fair chance of hearing back on Friday. That’s when ACT said they would release the next batch of scores.

@bsalum: I believe they take a representative sample and base the curve on that.

@stahboy: I took the ACT w/ writing. Still waiting for multiple choice scores, though.

QUESTION: As I said earlier in this thread, my test has been graded, but it undergoing “quality assurance testing” (according to www.actstudent.org). When I first mentioned this, I was told that I probably mis-bubbled the information. I was pretty sure I didn’t, so I asked around, and apparently everyone at my school is getting the same message from the ACT folks. Does anyone happen to know what this means?

@DiscipulusBonus Haha I’m just joking. I think it’s pretty clear that I’m not going to boycott the ACT. However, I do think the system is unjust. Why should other people get their scores before I do? I’m definitely warranted in questioning the ACT’s score reporting system. And as far as “lightening up” goes…we’re all on CollegeConfidential, how could one get happier?

@hdbrill: You see, that’s what happens when I spend an entire day studying calculus and computer science. I literally took literally everything you literally said literally.

Anyway, have fun waiting for your scores! I know I’m having fun. Yippideedoo.

EDIT: It’s 12:24am here, and I’m extremely tired. I won’t be able to edit this in the morning, so please excuse the bad jokes. ;)

@DiscipulusBonus Haha don’t worry about it. I feel your pain. I’ve spent my entire spring break studying for SAT I and II’s while going on college tours. :((

A note to people complaining and saying it is “unfair.”

If you look at old threads from previous tests, you read about people going nuts that the tests had been graded but the scores weren’t released. Now they are releasing scores in a more timely manner (for some) by doing it in waves.

Think about it; would you really be happier waiting until every last test was graded (including those with writing) so they were all released the same day, to make it fair?

The ACT guys are doing a good job with an incredibly large task.

(And for what it is worth, I don’t have my scores yet either.)
