Subjective:
• ECs listed on app: music, cultural, creative
• Job/Work Experience: volunteer only
• Essays (subject and responses): common app was about what he had planned to study and why (passionate, but not demonstrating his creative side only explaining it) and the essay for the Bard supplement was a graded paper.
• Teacher Recs: Probably good
• Counselor Rec: Probably good
• Applied on: Sometime in November (Early Action) and was deferred
• Hook (if any): Showed interest early, EA, many EC’s pursued sincerely and faithfully over many years and recognition for abilities, Arts supplement? does Bard look at those?
Location/Person:
• State or Country: Massachusetts
• School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): Very competitive public high school
• Ethnicity: White
• Gender: Male
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: wanted to do IDP but had rehearsals/performances both weekends, no interview (Communication break-down? Over-worked regional rep MIA? As far as I can tell it was not DS’s fault but when he was deferred I wondered if DS had dropped the ball, offending regional rep and that Bard thought he wasn’t interested),as a deferred student DS had to write statement on why he wanted to attend Bard. This seemed strange to me because there wasn’t a single speck of virtual ink on his application that didn’t scream out BARD!

not many postings on this thread yet. Guess Bard applicants are not much into the quantifiable trappings of academic status? Still would like to hear of more [especially] acceptances to Bard!
