<p>Many students with top stats will not be accepted at Skidmore as first year students as they are concerned about yield. Admissions will look at a high profile student and conclude that Skidmore is a safety school, rather than a serious consideration. If FA is a real consideration, remember that Skidmore admissions is need-aware, rather than need-blind. </p>
<p>A NY Times article several years ago described Skidmore’s admissions process in depth. Aps are actually sorted and marked if the student needs FA. Our daughter’s transfer FA package was delayed a great deal, because she needed FA and they were trying to work out a sufficient package.</p>
<p>The academics have been disappointing to us, but she is relatively happy. This year’s Paris program has been a disaster, but I believe the administration plans changes.</p>
