Hey guys,

Also accepted in mid-October
In state

GPA 4.0 UW, 5.2 W
SAT 780M, 800R, 780W

USF Presidental Scholarship - $16000 ($4000 a year)
USF Honors Scholarship - At most $2250 a year
Invited to apply for the Provost Scholars Scholarship
Also hoping to get the National Merit Scholarship once finalists are announced in Feb - $48,000, laptop, study abroad, priority registration and housing

Christena629: I’m hoping for Honors LLC also, maybe I’ll see you there! To apply for that, you just have to complete a regular housing application for Juniper Hall, and then it has a special section for you to designate that you want Honors LLC. If you get that sent in and your application deposit done before February, you should be good!

why do people keep posting their race as if it matters? I can tell you with 100% certainty that race is NOT a factor when they admit a person! lol. they are actually not allowed to consider race for admissions. (scholarships are different, some are specific to certain races, ethnicities, etc…)

congrats on getting in :)

Can I apply for honors llc without accepting their admissions offer?

Yeah I did. You just apply and send the deposit. If you decide you aren’t going there they will refund you as long as it’s before may 1.

lizz2152 - did you do it online?

hey do you mean the $200 admissions deposit or are you talking about something else? because I’m pretty sure the $200 is non-refundable. that’s what i read anyway, on the website.

Yes I did it online and I called to make sure and the admissions office said it’s refundable I’m pretty sure. She said it’s nonbinding and you will be refunded if you let them know before the given date.

Here is a link explaining the refund policy:

[Financial Aid & Payments - Housing & Residential Education - University of South Florida](<a href=“Housing & Residential Education | University of South Florida”>Housing & Residential Education | University of South Florida)

but that is specifically talking about the housing deposit… what about the admissions deposit? is that different? it sounds like there are 2 different deposits (I haven’t paid either yet so I’m kinda confused, lol)

“Freshmen are required to pay a non-refundable $200 deposit by May 1st in order to secure their place at USF. The deposit will be applied towards your first semester’s tuition and fees, and may be paid at my.usf.edu.”
http://usfweb2.usf.edu/Admissions/pdf/freshmanchecklist.pdf

tampacutie, i put my race because that’s how i got the History of Achievement Award

Theres a $200 non-refundable admissions deposit - if you submit that it says that you definately want to attend USF. There is a separate housing deposit that you have to pay when you submit your application to save an early spot in housing. This deposit is refundable up to May 1st, and you can submit it without having submitted the admissions deposit - it doesn’t mean you’re definately going to the school, it just means you’re saving a place if you do.

I applied for housing by going to housing.usf.edu

Scroll to the bottom and click on the checklist, which should take you to the application. It’s $50 to apply, $200 prepayment, plus $200 prepayment for enrollment (which I’m not sure is required first)

Where else did you guys apply? Any Ivy Leagues?

Someone told me that honors program is useless and that it doesn’t even show up on your transcript; grad schools won’t even see it. Any thoughts?

Sent from my Ally using CC App

It’s a real stretch to describe the USF Honors Program as useless. Too, any coursework completed in the Honors Program will be noted on your transcript. I’m not in the Honors Program, but I do some research work as an undergraduate at USF and it is even noted on my transcript even though I don’t receive credit hours for the research; I don’t want credits because I have too many cr hrs now and I’d have to pay extra too if I did want credits hrs–but I do want the work showing on my transcript.

When you apply for graduate school you can mention Honors College participation in your application, in letters of intent, and your professors’ recommendation letters will likely include mention of your Honors College work: graduate schools you apply to will be made aware you did the USF Honors Program as an undergraduate.

I think “someone” was referring to another large Florida University’s “Honors College”.

Accepted today! (February 22nd)
Live in Maryland, but have in-state tuition
White Female
GPA 3.3 weighted, 3.0 unweighted
